Time in-country--15 minutes. Send back that Purple Heart?
Former special assistant to President Nixon and later a Reagan Pentagon appointee, Noel Koch:

"I spent a year in Vietnam and came home without a scratch. My brother served two tours in Vietnam, earned three Purple Hearts (and was hospitalized, and does draw disability -- weird yardsticks used to measure John Kerry's alleged shortfall), and yet spent far less time than I did in-country. Indeed, his first "tour" lasted about 15 minutes, ending on the beach near Danang in the midst of the U.S. Marines' first amphibious assault in Vietnam.

Time in-country, how often a man was wounded, how much blood he shed when he was wounded -- it is hurtful that those who served in Vietnam are being split in so vile a fashion, and that the wounds of that war are reopened at the instigation of people who avoided serving at all."

REPUBLICANS DEMAND JUSTICE:

All families who received PHs for their loved ones who died in Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan/Anywhere before they'd been in Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan/Anywhere for less than X days, GIVE BACK THOSE MEDALS, your loved ones DIDN'T DESERVE THEM.

All Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan/Anywhere veterans who received PHs and left Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan/Anywhere before they'd been in VietnamIraq/Afghanistan/Anywhere for less than X days, GIVE BACK THOSE MEDALS, you DIDN'T DESERVE THEM.

All of the above who lost less than X pints of blood and received PHs, GIVE BACK THOSE MEDALS, you DIDN'T DESERVE THEM.

WHY do Republicans so HATE our troops and veterans???

2. Its a slippery slope to question the medals awarded

officially by the military. Since the process is well defined by a set of rules, uniform and rigorous, casting any doubt on one basically casts doubt on them all.

3. Exactly
I agree with you both.

And what just amazes me, that I find just jaw-droppingly gobsmacking, is they DEMAND we accept bush's TANG honorable discharge NO QUESTIONS ASKED. OR ELSE.

And yet they feel perfectly fine with smearing all the US Navy's documentation for Kerry, for all the guys who actually were with him, for the boats' damage reports, the commendations reports, senior officers' reports, Admiral Zumwalt's reports, all of it.

Not to even mention all the (actual) eyewitnesses.

The hypocrisy is just...I dunno what it is but it's something!

4. Because
for both parties the only quest is to win election or re-election. The Dems try with tough but (mostly) truthful ads the Repugs don't hestitate to use outright lies in their ads.

The real answer, divide the US into 2 or more countries, the time has come!
