Do you believe that the Election will be a close Race? Or..........
do you believe as I do that the polls are manipulated. There is a part of me that just cannot believe that half the country supports Bush. I can't wrap my mind around that statement at all. I understand that his base will vote for him if he screws a goat on the WH lawn at noon tomorrow but what about the rest of his so called supporters. For the life of me I just don't get it. I read the article from Digby about spite voting and that made sense. The author wrote that happiness or perceived happiness is like kryptonite to the spite voter and that if they perceive that they can put a greasy piece of misery on the table of someone they perceive has it together and is happy that they take some pleasure in that action. Misery loves company voting. How in the hell could anyone look at the photographs from Abu G and support Bush? Well thanks for letting me rant. I realize that the media has a lot to do with this but damn, that doesn't account for all of it.

2. Kerry Will Walk Away With It
No, I don't think it will be close. There's nothing for Bush but bad road between here and November. One term presidency, just like Poppy.

5. Second Election To Be Decided By Supreme Court
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 11:17 PM by mhr
The polls are accurate in that the country is split 50/50.

Throw in BBV and it gets thrown to the courts.

Why do you think that none of the sitting Justices have retired?

Bush knows he can count on the codgers in place now!

8. Gore won the popular vote in 2000
I doubt any democrats are going to vote for Bush this time either, and the democrats who voted for an off candidate last time won't this time. Do you really think Kerry is going to garner fewer votes than Gore did? Personally I don't think Bush has a snowball in hells chance of winning unless he steals it by vote fraud. (Diebold)

7. chimp will be down to the hard core 30% at this rate
by Nov. After all, what did he do right since the (totally undeserved) 90% approval rating?? Even the $600 buy-your-souls tax credit didn't really help. He has long since run out of ammo and is the laughing stock to the entire world. 50% for mr. wartime-I gave you free money-elect me or we get nuked isn't looking too good.

9. I believe there is manipulation..... just think about it: 2000 election
was won by Gore. Gore also took the popular vote by over 500k voters.

Now consider how in the hell this dismal failure * could possibly have endeared himself to more now than then?!?!

There are millions since who have been victimized by unemployment, underemployment, healthcare, Iraq etc.

We as a people are blatantly being lied to for manipulation purposes in order for the powers that be to further their agenda's.

I would encourage you to become active in any way possible to reverse this trend Demgrrrl

10. I think polls make it closer than it will be
They don't count younger voters who seem to be largely in favor of Kerry. And there's also probably many Repubs who have reservations about Bush and probably aren't saying anything publically about their doubts, but their actions in the booth should be enough to express it. Kerry should win by 7 at least, I'm trying not to be to ambitious.

12. I agree. I needed to hear that I wasn't completely alone in my beliefs
Makes you feel a little less apprehensive. I do work the polls and do phone banking and drive people to the polls and put up yard signs and go door to door with literature. This year I am going to use a larger car so I can take more people to the polls if they need a ride. As far as I am concerned this one is for all the marbles.

11. half the country does NOT even vote; of the 50% that DOES vote,
whether registered or likely voters the current numbers in the national polls show a 43 to 49 % range (top to bottom end for each candidates); but it actually means that, in terms of the OVERALL country, each candidate hangs on to its base (which equals to about 25-28% of the country, and about 45-50% of the 50% that DO VOTE) -- makes sense?

HALF THE COUNTRY DOES NOT SUPPORT BUSH -- do NOT worry!

Don't forget that Chimpy already lost the popular vote once, and many of those voters are switching to Kerry (there's yet another LTTE posted here on DU tonite showing this)!

It's all about the electoral math, and Kerry has led consistently on that front, BUT we still have to work like the dickens to win ALL the states that will net us the Electoral Vote win; it also seems to me that the K/E campaign has long been looking at many different ways to put together a winning combo of states.

We (the Dems, Indys and reasonable Repubs) will have a VOTER REVOLT of such magnitude at the ballot box this year, where IMHO even their mischief will not allow the scumpubs to prevail.
