I was wrong, God damn it.
I'm kinda new around here and posted a thread about two minutes into Hillary's (great) speech in which I voiced a concern that it sounded like she was giving a stump speech.

Very shortly after that, she made it obvious that she was there to try and unite the party and give her support to Obama. That is a good thing.

Before I could type an addendum or answers to any comments, I was castigated by 30-40 people wishing me all sorts of ill will. Hey, I'm really sorry. This is a great sounding board for folks like me who think that the last eight years have been the absolute worst in the history of American politics.

To make it clear, there is not one of the candidates from the primaries that I would not be supporting today had they won. Barack was my second choice, Dennis was my first. So cuss me if you want, call me a troll, tell me to fuck off. There's not much I can do about it, but I can say that I'm a proud Democrat in a red state that had his Kerry Edwards yard signs thrown through a bedroom window and his car keyed because of anti bush bumper stickers.

I was wrong in my assumptions of the first few minutes of Hillary Clinton's speech. I admit it.

Sorry.

2. If you want to hang around, get used to it.
Lotta knee-jerk, around here.

Thick skin is one hell of an asset.

Sending manuscripts off is great practice. :)

"People sometimes ask me what I do.

I tell them that I am a writer.

And they all crowd around, ask me what I write.

I tell them I do freelance.

And they all take a few steps back."

13. LOL! Thanks, I needed that.
I feel very akin to Garrison Keelor's bumbling English Major.

7. Hint: Try not to sound like you are spouting off RW talking points and earn some bona fides;
people tend to be friendlier when you give an opinion that wasn't texted 30 seconds after an event.

Now, remember this line:

It'll serve you well, especially in politics.

10. sorry 'bout that, people are so very trigger happy around here.
We've all been called "concern trolls" every now and then. Consider it like a rite of passage. ;) Welcome, btw!

20. Why do you say that?
Please review my posts (it won't take long, there aren't that many) and tell me why you feel I was only trying to "stir up trouble" with my post. I DVR'd the speech and reviewed it and can see how I felt the way I did at that point in time. I posted at that time. At the beginning of the speech, I also posted I thought she was uniting the party.

I really didn't mean to offend, I was just posting my thoughts and concerns as the speech progressed. In the original thread, I ate crow. I've eaten a lot of it in my life, and this was sweeter than most. I am very happy to have been wrong in my initial assumption.

21. I wasn't saying that I thought you were trying to stir up trouble.
I was saying that you jumped the gun (or were "trigger happy") in your criticism of her, as you realized very soon after you made the comment.

I know you weren't trying to offend -- you were just worried. I hope you feel better about her from now on. I'm not surprised she did well -- she and Bill are pros.

23. I voted for Bill twice.
And I would have happily voted for Hillary this year. I only asked where she was heading in her speech.

I can see with the number of trolls that do frequent this board how one might think what they thought, but I was unprepared for the volumes of "fuck you's" that I got. I thought I was voicing a real concern at the moment.

24. I think the problem probably was that there were a number of other threads
started within seconds of yours that were very negative about HRC. So you got lumped in with them.

Sorry!

19. You're a great addition to this board, Stern21.
I was one of those who responded negatively to your negativity. There are a lot of Hillary-haters around here, and it can be pretty discouraging (even to someone like me who remained neutral in the primaries). But you clearly aren't a hater, just someone -- like me -- who gets sick at the idea of the Rethugs remaining in power for another 4 years.

I'm not surprised Hillary hit this one out of the park, and I expect Bill to do the same thing tomorrow. And then maybe we'll all be able to breathe a bit more easily and concentrate on worrying about the real enemy -- NOT other Democrats.

Just the nature of things. My only advice is to not let what people say bother you and to get that post count up as fast as you can!

26. Welcome to DU. If you post that the Earth revolves
around the sun, there will be some here who will insist you are wrong and will make it personal. That's just the nature of the place. Luckily the admins. have provided the "ignore" function. Feel free to use it as needed.

Oh, and if you really want to experience some intense flames, go over to the lounge and relate an experience in which a restaurant meal was wrecked by someone's screaming kid. You'll find yourself on the receiving end of comments like, "You have no right to enjoy a meal out. Stay home next time."
Some DUers just enjoy being contrary.

Anyhow, all in all, this is a good place for think-skinned Dems, and one word of caution: It's addictive.
