Rachael Maddow is on Fire tonight
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 09:12 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
"Mark Warner just delivered a speech from the future, and apparently in the future the Democratic Party doesn't exist."

(She's pissed off in stereo about the general reluctance to go after the republican party. Like Rachael, I believe that when the Republican Party and their President are below 30% you run against them as an institution, but I'm old fashioned.)

5. Not surprisingly, I'm with Rachel
Time for some red meat.

Time for some focus on the party and getting Obama elected. Enough prevaricating.

Someone needs to get in there and start throwing punches.

13. in defense of Michelle,
that was not the purpose of her speech last night. She was introducing us to her family and talking about her husband. It was a focused speech, and brilliantly done.

Red meat started earlier with Dennis.
More of it in 1/2 hour with Hillary.
Tomorrow, it gets even more raw with Joe.
Thursday, Al will chew them up.
And minutes later, Barack will tear them apart.

:D

Hopefully these three people will give the wimps in the Dem party a much needed kick in the butt!

7. I LOVE RACHEL! We need Dem politicians like her...ones with the BALLS TO FIGHT.
Rachel is smart, tough, and has a firm grasp of what is necessary for Dems to win. Obama needs to hire her to run his media machine.

9. One of the few times I disagree with her. Warner was clearly playing to VA...
for Obama, not for himself. He's already a shoe-in here. Warner's job with that speech was to try to get right-leaning independents, of which there are a lot here, to vote for Obama. It was an excellent speech for Obama's chances in VA.

12. no kidding
If they don't want to rip into McNut, at least frickin' COMPARE AND CONTRAST positions here! All this airy-fairy happy talk is doing nothing to draw distinctions.

This is, if possible, even worse than the 2004 convention. At least there they let Carter and Rev. Al speak and they ripped into Bush. This is just ridiculous.

18. I agree! Rachel nailed it.
My 88 year old dad, and I watched, and we both agreed that the speech was insipid. We then recalled the stirring keynote speeches from the past like Barbara Jordan, Ted Kennedy and of course Obama. This one was flat.

In fact, so far there aren't many knives at this knife fight. I want to see our convention go for the jugular!
