I somehow got a feeling that the Kerry people are preparing
a succession of news dumps--at least 4, one for each day of the RNC, or maybe for the week after, that will completely take the wind out of the Puggies' sails. I think all the Smearboat maneuvering has just been preparation for it. "OK, Georgie--we gave you one chance after another to come clean. We pulled the McCain ad at his request. We . disavowed the MoveOn ad. You stayed dirty. Now here it is. Here's what you bought yourself.

And you gotta know that the Kerry people have stuff going all the way back to BCCI, Iran/Contra, Funeralgate...fill in your own list.

But it's coming. A deluge of information is about to come tumbling out, in 1 to 2 weeks. It will be devastating, and it will be in language simple enough for our TV-addled population to comprehend.

Kerry, it is said, does not just win. He DESTROYS his opponents.

I don't believe all the naysayers..I sure wish he did have that campaign charisma like Clinton did but he has doen this before..this is NOT a new thing for him...he has been elected before ...and he is a smart man..this guy is going to be the President..have more faith in his advisors..and in HIM--you can disagree...BUT don't lose faith...keep up the fight!

I'm speaking of Chelsey. Who Rush called the Whitehouse dog. She is twenty two or three now and only has about twelve years to go until she legally can become President of the United States.

2. They should do it AFTER the convention
if they shut up during....then the conventional wisdom can't be they are trying to steal the show. if they barrage them with some scandals right after that...WOOHOOO!!

we know the scandals exist..it's all about selling it in the way mass media will consume and endlessly loop for the next week or two after that.

23. Yeah, I know.
My comment was basically restating what John Edwards has said. It left me with the impression that the chimp's deadline for condemning the ads had passed and that they were going to start dropping the big ones. I think the first one was dropped yesterday in Crawford.

13. Ultimate Strategy
I'm waiting for the ultimate anti-Bush attacks. I suspect that they will come out around the end of September. I'd like to see a well presented attack on the Republican rush to war (and evidence of the support our troops rhetoric). Or raising questions about the Bush administration's involvement in the anthrax scare (I think its pretty suspicious. Pat Leahy was sent into silence. Daschle gave in to the war resolution. The New York Times and NBC followed behind Fox NEws in support of the Iraq War. And Bush used the whole thing as a scare tactic).

I think the strategy next week is to portray Bush as an untrustworthy extremist flip-flopper.

18. As one of the original members of the Tinfoil Hat Society
(AKA Grassy Knoll Society), I can dig where you're coming from with the anthrax story, but unless they have absolutely persuasive (not just irrefutible, but PERSUASIVE) evidence, I think it would cost them more votes than it would net them to go this "far-out."

15. I agree.
I have said this more than once....Kerry is fixing to break bad on some good ole boys! I firmly believe that when this man goes into a rage, all hell will break loose. Right now he is just pissed a little. I also believe that he has more back up in Washington than we could ever imagine. I was reading a piece in RS about Cheney today. The folks in Washington call Cheney and his bunch, "the crazies". This is not merely a fight for the dems. This is a fight for all of Washington... to get these folks the hell out of dodge.

16. There are a lot of things on Bush's record
that have not been discussed. I think Kerry will start talking about the environment, education, and flip-flopping and really start hitting him hard. I think the BCCI thing will be something useful closer to the election that will leave an impression on undecided voters.

You're right that Kerry's got more ammo, but Kerry's a vet and a hunter, and his ammo is not unlimited by any means. He's going to stalk his prey and take his shots carefully. But he WILL bag his man.

24. I have no doubts about Kerry's ability.
This man is a pro when the chips seemed piled up against him. I learned after the primaries to never underestimate this guy again. He does best when his back is against the wall. These guys pulled the absolutely worst shit possible on him, nothing they could have done would have angered him more than questioning his service. Nothing they could have done would have made him want to fight back even harder. One could almost thank the Not so Swift Vet guys.

Yes, there was only one Big Dog but I think Kerry is much better at beating these guys at their own game. Kerry just seems to be one of the most strategically smart politicians I have seen in a while.

26. I hope beyond hope that you're correct, JR,

because Kerry must win. The future of this country depends on it.

It is completely ridiculous that any vet prefers a guy who weaseled his way into a safe spot in the TANG to a decorated Viet Nam vet.

"Kerry said there were atrocities and that hurt me more than my wounds." BULLSHIT! There were atrocities in that war, as there are in every war, and those guys know it. Kerry stood up and spoke for other vets who testified about atrocities they had committed. He preserved their anonymity and got their stories out there.

Let's take a long, hard look about what Bush* was doing when Kerry was in Nam. And what he was doing when Kerry was with the VVAW. And, especially, what he's done to this country.

29. Campaign or surrogates need to get the Republicans off script and real.
The Kerry campaign or Kerry or surrogates need to get the Republicans off script during the convention so that the American people can get a more realistic image of just how hard right the emporer with no clothes is.

They think they will be nice nice with Ahnold, Guliani, and McCain. Get Keyes to comment on Cheney's embrace of gay marriage as a state thing. Ask delegates about the recent overturning of the anti-DX abortion law (anti-DNX, anti "partial-birth"). Ask conservatives about Ashcroft trying to get libraries to destroy info about Asset Forfeiture laws. Ask delegates which is worse, army atrocities in Vietnam or army atrocities in Abu Ghraib prison.

Make 'em froth.

39. As a former Clarkie, I have to say I'm impressed.
Okay, well, "not former"...I'm still a Clarkie. But I love John Kerry now too. I really started to come around the night of his convention speech.

I have often seriously wondered if it is possible for anyone on earth to survive the Republican attack machine. I just read _The Bush Dyslexicon_ by Mark Crispin Miller (he talks a lot about the Bush tactics and the media's complicity) and it depressed me even more.

But Kerry has really shown himself to be a fighter, and shrewd, too. The mere fact he's even survived all this so far impresses me.

I can't say whether or not the other dem candidates would have survived the RAC; but, Clarkie that I am, I can say I'm glad Kerry's the candidate. Still not completely sure about the Edwards VP pick. I wish he could have picked both Edwards and Clark. :)

Kerry's been my senator a long time, and no-one has to convince me that he has the cujones to execute.

but... he better be a damn good dancer to dodge the blowback of complaining about gutter-politicking and using gutter-politics to out the thugs.

packaging, message and timing. the best use of surrogates.

and the debates. the debates.
i think this race clarifies and shifts dramatically in the last two weeks, regardless of nip and tuck right now.

he has to uses the bush admin's hostiroy of deceptive plicy advertising to undermine any october curpirse they are planning. when it hits, the seeds of doubt among the everyone gotta be firmly planted, not just in our minds.
