He just said that his boat released a furious barrage of gunfire toward the banks - this was his pathetic effort to explain why the crew member who saved his life was awarded a medal for pulling Thurlow out of the water while they were under fire.

Funny. Last week he said there was NO gunfire and that the only reason his own citation said otherwise is that Kerry wrote the report.

"Last month, Thurlow swore in an affidavit that Kerry was 'not under fire' when he fished Lt. James Rassmann out of the water. He described Kerry's Bronze Star citation, which says that all units involved came under 'small arms and automatic weapons fire,' as 'totally fabricated.'
