So many of you here, who didn't see the majesty of John and Bobby Kennedy, and the promise they held for America, and how Teddy has tried in his lifetime, to make the playing field equal for ALL men, not just the privileged few, just saw what the Democratic Party is all about.

God Bless YOU Teddy Kennedy, and thank you for still being with us, a champion of the people.

Thank you

1. Am I still on your ignore list?
I've really admired your posts around here lately and I was wondering if we're still on the outs due to our baseball dispute.

18. Awesome
Frankly, it doesn't look like either one of our teams is going to make the playoffs this year fortunately/unfortunately for both of us.

2. I would really have to be the speaker who follows that
They could be the best speaker in the world and it would be impossible to top it.

4. Much love for Teddy
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 08:49 PM by mokawanis
I was just thinking Teddy represents what's good about the party and this nation. He stands in a category that few politicians can achieve and he makes most of the others look like cheap hustlers.

I was crying all the way through, for so many reasons. Happy, sad,
and envious tears for that sailboat! He's an unabashed Democrat, and he walks the walk. I have nothing but respect for him.

He's been my favorite senator for as long as I can remember.

8. Thanks for sharing that.
I too got a little misty over that. It brought back the night in November of 1963 when I called home half way across the country. My mom told me that my older brother had called home in tears about the assassination. Knowing that my brother was OK with crying, I went down the hall to the shower and bawled my eyes out. My brother has always been a dead ringer for Ted Kennedy and is now a professional Republican with whom I have a hard time communicating.

Through my son I have shared a little bit of what you and Ted have lived through. What happened tonight made me so hopeful and yet so sad.

Bless all who have lived through what you Rob, & Ted have lived through.

12. I missed Camelot
Nee 1964, here.

But I cried like a baby watching Uncle Ted, tonight. And I called all my siblings to tell them he was next to speak.

My mother died when I was in kindergarten in 1969. Cancer.

From my older siblings, they said that when John was assassinated, Mom pulled everyone out of school, brought them home and cried at the kitchen sink, saying we were going to war again.

A Democrat is who I am.

16. That happened to me in 1963
I was in the 8th grade. It was a very warm afternoon. We were actually outside playing kickball when the Principal came running out and spoke to the Teacher (Mr Bacollo) and he hurried us back into the classroom. He told us the President had been shot in Texas and it didn't look like he was going to live. Within minutes, our parents had gathered outside, as if while at work they were told (which they were) to go home and be with their families.

We all talked about the possibility of war. It was as bad a time as I have ever lived in my life. And I hope in November, the nightmare is finally over.

Thanks everyone.

....you're a good person DainBramaged....but a tad too emotional....

....Ted Kennedy is a great guy but what has he done for you lately?....except maybe, make you cry....

....Ted Kennedy is a multi-millionaire who receives top-notch healthcare 50 million of us can only dream of, and many of us die dreaming....who weeps for the unknown dreamer?

....the Democrats have been working on Universal Healthcare since 1948....how many people have needlessly died since 1948?

....but I understand, we can't only blame Ted....and he is a good guy....never mind, continue weeping....
