CNN: Whether Kerry saved Rassmann's life is now in dispute
Is it true CNN is adopting the motto "Balanced and Fair" next week?

http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2004_08_22.php#003349

The continuing decline of CNN. Miles O'Brien from yesterday afternoon ...

O'BRIEN: All right, we are listening to Max Cleland, former senator from Georgia and former Lieutenant Jim Rassmann, a former Green Beret whose life was saved by John Kerry in the Mekong Delta in 1969. Although, that is a point of dispute, given what has all transpired here with the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

5. Too many problems with thant stance
First of all, Rasmussen came seeking out Kerry, to support his candidacy, once he found out that Kerry was running. Rasmussen was a REpublican who voted for Bush in the last election.

Then we have the problems with the inconsistancies with the record and the actual testimony of members of "Swift Boat Veterans" themselves. The most well known of them have changed a good number of positions and stances they have taken about Kerry prior to his running against Bush.

It would seem absurd to suggest that if Rasmuussen was just left behind, in terrirory that was known to have a good number of enemy troops in the area, that his life would not have been threatened in some way, or even lost.

One of the things that gives a good indication that the testimony of the Swift Boat Veterans is beginning to seriously lose its credibility is the fact that Bush is talking about suing MoveOn and organizations that attack Bush.

He must be worried that Swift Boat Veterans are really a one tricl pony, while Move on and other liberal 527 groups have a rather vast area to go to to get information to attack Bush with.
