Pawlenty on CNN: McCain's VP can handle Biden
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, long-rumored to be on Sen. John McCain’s short list for vice president, told CNN’s “Late Edition” he isn’t concerned about newly chosen Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware.

Calling Biden “long-winded,” Pawlenty told host Wolf Blitzer, “I think any of the people that Senator McCain is thinking about for vice president will be more than able to hold their own against Senator Biden.” The Republican vice presidential nominee will get his or her chance to face Biden during the vice presidential debate on October 2 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Other names circulated in Republican circles for the number two spot on the McCain ticket include former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney; Tom Ridge, former Homeland Security Secretary and Pennsylvania governor; and Sen. Joe Lieberman, an Independent Democrat and longtime ally of McCain.

Pawlenty appeared on “Late Edition” today while campaigning for McCain in Pennsylvania. He has spent the last few months speaking on McCain’s behalf in battleground states such as Michigan, fueling further speculation that he’s being seriously considered for the VP spot.

On Monday he is expected to campaign in Ohio for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

When pressed by Blitzer if he expected to be McCain’s running mate, or if he felt ready to hold the office, Pawlenty refused to speculate. “I just don't talk about the VP speculation anymore.”

6. the empty chair VS. Biden
I think the empty chair loses. If this pick was so strong why has it taken McHomes so long to figure out who it is?

11. Pawlenty (who has barely ever left MN) vs. Joe Biden on
foreign affairs policies.....hmmm, let's see who would win there :-). I am so unimpressed with Pawlenty, I hope McCain picks him.

12. Timmy the Tool is no match for Biden.
He's not a good speaker; in fact, he's downright dull. The only things he's got going for him is that he's fairly nice-looking and has a friendly, personable demeanor. I can't tell whether he's smart because I instantly fall asleep when I hear him speak. But he's a completely bought and sold tool of the Republican machine who has been taking his marching orders from Karl Rove even before he was governor: Timmy originally wanted to run for the U.S. Senate, and he was just about to file the paperwork when he got a call from Rove telling him not to do it because they (the Bushies) wanted Norm "The Weasel" Coleman to be the candidate. And he obeyed and didn't run. I'm sure they greased the skids later so he could become Governor, thereby padding his resume for bigger things.

Timmy has been living in McCain's pants for about a year; he wants this VP thing so badly and so transparently that it's become laughable. But the bridge that collapsed last year because he wouldn't spend tax money on infrastructure is miraculously almost rebuilt, the fastest such construction imaginable, since the GOP convention is nearby and to have a big ol' heap of concrete and rebar in a heap in the river would be embarrassing. Timmy found the money for that project in a hurry.

Timmy sucks, but they all do.
