I'm thinking Biden was one of Obama's better choices
I thought Hillary may have made a good VP candidate, but I can understand Obama's reluctance to have Bill have a prominent position in his administration (and make no mistake he would have injected himself quite a bit).

Biden is sharp, witty, and is a great attack dog. No I don't agree with the bankruptcy bill (I think it was atrocious and an inexcusable piece of legislation and it's one of those things where I hope Obama would stick to his own instincts) and I disagree with the war vote...But Biden generally has the right idea when it comes to domestic and foreign policy. His criticism of Bush with regards to Afghanistan were spot on. He has a great understanding of South Asia, which I think is crucial. And I think Obama and him have a pretty similar world view in this regard. Personally, having actually read Obama's policies on foreign policy, the inexperience tag republicans try to pin doesn't work with me. Even though during the primaries, Edwards had more "experience" in foreign policy (at least in terms of years in the senate), his knowledge was shallow and he seemed uninterested in the issue. Hillary was mostly full of tough talk, but that was about it. Richardson was good, but was goofy and did a poor job of effectively proving his knowledge. Clark would have been good, but along with his "attack" on McCain's military service, he looks like he never really took off as a major force after the '04 primaries. Sebelius would have just been taken badly by Hillary supporters and she has no foreign policy "gravitas". Schweitzer was good, but he had similar drawbacks.

Overall, I'm pleased Obama understands the importance of a sane foreign policy. I'm thinking Dems have been ceding this issue for far too long. And when we do take the republicans on, it looks forced.

Biden has the right experience. He's not terribly wealthy either, and while I can never look at him the same after his support of that bankruptcy "reform" garbage, I know it really makes little difference because first we need a Dem in the WH. The debate can be had then. But with McInsane/other HACK we continue down this failed path.
