In the Economist Poll
They had crossovers even at 7% for each party.

That was CNN's own unique brand of ass talking.
They cited no source for that statement.

4. !5% of Dems "have not made up mind" ?
Perhaps not the same as support Bush.

Perhaps it reflect excess of Dems over GOPers - so that excess is a bit conservative?

5. more democrats always favor the GOP than the other way around
becuz we are really the big tent party. The GOP these days are made up mainly of nutty right wingers. There is no liberal wing like there was 40 years ago (except that small minority who may be going for Kerry). Dems on the other hand, have progressives, liberals, moderates and conservatives represented in our party. Unfortunately in many national elections some of the more conservative dems will vote for the GOP candidate for president.

6. I would have to see how the poll question was phrased
For instance, a VALID question would be:

"Are you voting for Kerry or Bush?"

I doubt you'd get 15% of real Democrats saying they'll vote for Georgie.

But if the poll question is phrased like this:

"If our country was attacked, would you support retaliatory strikes ordered by the President on the folks responsible?"

See, in that case I could support the President, no matter who he is.

Or the question could've been posed like this:

"Do you support the President in his true attacks on Kerry, or do you support Kerry in his scurrilous attacks on the President?"

Just for instance.

Or hey, maybe Diebold is doing polling these days?

:P

8. Ahh, if only he had gone after those responsible.
But he didn't. I know that's not your point, so I'm not trying to start shit here. I was just adding that in.

7. Why not?
I mean, its probably people who consider themselves D or R, or who have voted D or R in the past. They probably aren't polling registered Dems or Republicans.

Then consider the common tactic, especially favored by Republicans, of lying and saying shit like "I am a Democrat, but I am voting for Bush" or "I used to be a Democrat, but now I am all for the Republicans". Usually, its bullshit. But polls don't filter out bullshit and lies.

I am guessing some of these Dems are like Zell Miller. DINOs, quite literally. Or maybe they are just so stupid and so scared to death that they think Bush is their only savior. So many people were brainwashed by the "trifecta". War, terror threats, bad economy...

And, I certainly think you might be able to find one of twenty-five Republicans who will actually publicly admidt that Bush is a worthless and even dangerous moron.
