I was watching Mr. Sanchez on CNN, got bored, and so I ......
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 09:44 PM by FrenchieCat
Wrote him this letter.....

I was watching CNN today because I wanted to watch coverage of the Democratic Nominee's announcement of his Vice Presidential choice. Instead, I was treated to non-stop Republican talking points read outloud by CNN employees, and talked outloud by RNC Operatives guests. In addition, Anti-Obama ads were aired for free by CNN over and over and over again. No need for the Republicans to pay for advertising, which is what they are supposed to do.

It appears that CNN has become the PR distribution arm of the GOP, So I turned the station, and accidently stumbled upon RFK speaking at the 1964 Democratic convention on C-Span. I was amazed to remember what it was like watching politicians at conventions and other events without some smartass pundit operative coming right behind trashing what viewers would see and hear. I tell you, we need civility back in our politics, and the corporate media is the biggest culprit in stiring division amongs Americans. I consider that unAmerican.

So just to let you know, I won't be watching CNN for the convention coverage. I already know what is in store. I don't want any of that, and so I will watch on another channel that will do a more responsible job. Thank God, I still have a few other choices.

Yours Truly,

2. All of us should do likewise...
I did a couple of years ago so I guess it is time again...I know Twitty started changing his tune on MSNBC when we started contacting his advertisers...maybe it's time for another one of those group actions...

6. Yes. I don't recall this kind of free anti advertising during
the announcement of a Veep from another party. It was really heavy handed and too much. It's one thing if McCain is gonna pay to air his filth....it's quite another they get it done for free!

20. Go to CNN and write an email to start
if you really want to complain write the general manager in snail mail. Tell them that you are making a list of advertisers for the offending programs and will start contacting them and letting them know you will not buy their products because of the shows they chose to advertise with being unfairly partisan and offensive. If you also want to, get other people you know that are concerned and disgusted to do the same. All of us here at DU and Daily Kos did it to Twitty and his tune changed rather quickly.

4. Excellent letter, FC!
The tone is perfect - not accusatory or incensed, but instead totally dismissive.

Remember "Stranger in a Strange Land"? There were "fair witnesses" who couldn't lie. We need reporting like that.

9. Isn't it cool! That's what happened.....I was about to turn the TV off,
but checked to see if C-span was going to rerun the O & Joe speeches....and there was RFK getting a big giant long extended cheer!

Barbara Jordan's will also be aired.

the link that they provide here: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form11b.html?2

I would very much like to see a Democratic Convention covered without the Republican talking points hanging out in the halls looking for microphones. I don't believe that this is how the Democratic Convention should be treated, with Anti-Obama ads ran for free by CNN doing duty of the RNC. I'm tired of CNN pushing silly season, the attacks, airing free McCain advertising material, and I am really, really tired of seeing the same old political GOP operatives lying through their teeth without challenge from so call "news" people.

What is great is that this time, I can choose to watch CNN, C-Span, MNSBC, or TV One. I can also watch it on my computer, which is handy. So you can make the decision as to how you will cover this convention and understand that I have the remote in hand.

Respectfully,
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

17. Cool.
I have to admit, FrenchieCat, that I don't have the energy to e-mail CNN anymore. When I think of the blood, sweat, and tears I wasted writing them during the 2000 election I'm tempted to sink into a deep depression. They didn't listen then, but I hope they listen to you. As you point out, we have so many more options now.

The first thing they said when the confirmed Biden - in the same sentence - was that Biden is McSame's friend. In the same sentence no less, they just couldn't wait one second.

I put them on ignore.

24. You had their attention up to here, "some smartass pundit operative"...
Then they turned your station. Still a good letter, roiling with the outlines of containable anger; though as I say you tipped those cards. Now they know you're pissed instead, in spite of any civil trending, in spite of your solid A for passion. They sense you'll tune back in if for no other reason than to become outraged once again for their having changed nothing whatsoever; or are in fact are playing *more* anti-Obama nonsense cause that's what they do...piss people off on purpose and voila! It is done. Either way their Nielsen takes another up-tick. While somewhere a box of laundry soap is purchased, an advertiser smiles. In addition, I would have signed it

Most Sincerely

CNN is a simple abomination. They wasted NO TIME dredging up Biben's every utterance to someone's contrary during the primaries. These people are completely nefarious. They have no intention of reporting any news, and every intention to keep the smack-down alive & sick as it is.

CNN, they 'report', I :puke:
