7. He's good friends with McCain too...
Doesn't stop him from kicking ass against McCain's ideas in the Senate. If Liebermann is on the other side, Joe will tear him a new asshole ON THE ISSUES. He's not going to personally attack him, although he might say he's disappointed that he chose McCain over Barack.

8. Joe Biden is a FRIEND of Joe Lieberman.
He has never ATTACKED Lieberman, and
he never will.

He might disagree with Lieberman, but
he would never "tear his head off"!

This thread was about him tearing into Lieberman.

16. By 2006, it was CLEAR that he was acting in direct opposition of
Democratic policies, that was why the democrats
of Connecticut finally TOOK HIM OUT, even though
he was still supported by beltway Dem's like Biden.

17. But he was still a Democrat.
You keep forgetting that minor detail, buddy. He was a Democrat. He no longer is a Democrat. Why would Joe Biden take an easy on an opposition candidate? Only because they were friends? You're up in the sky with that one. :)

19. Why would he tear into a friend that he supported, against a Progressive Democrat?
What's in a (D)?

A dog rose by any other name
would smell as crappy as Lieberman.

Biden is a disappointing choice for Progressives, buddy.

I can live with it, but please don't post about
what a progressive "fighter" he is.

20. Maybe you can't grasp it...
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 10:57 PM by Drunken Irishman
Or you want to ignore it, but Lieberman WAS a Democrat and supported by Democrats in 2006. He no longer is a Democrat, so why would Biden support the opposition? Do you honestly believe what you type or are you that naive and ignorant you can't actually see how absurd you sound?

Let me spell it out for you and then maybe you'll be able to wrap your mind around it.

In 2006, Lieberman was a Democrat. He might have been a right-leaning Democrat, but he was a Democrat nonetheless. In 2006, most in the Democratic Party, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, supported Joe Lieberman over the more progressive Democrat. Why? Because they looked to Lieberman -- who at the time as a Democrat -- as a friend. When Lieberman left the Democratic Party, Biden stopped supporting his campaign.

Now do you really believe Biden would not question or attack Lieberman if he were McCain's vice president? If you do, you need some major help because you're obviously not all there.

26. Joe Lieberman was acting and voting like a Republican when he was still a Democrat.
He should have been thrown overboard LONG ago, and
he would have been, had he NOT been supported by
Democrats like Hillary Clinton.

Do you have a statistic for "most of the Democratic Party"
that supported Lieberman? Because MOST of the democrats
in CONNECTICUT did NOT support him.

And no, I don't think Biden would come out strong
against Lieberman. It would be too painful for him.

If you think that changing a consonant from a D to an R
changes the PERSON, Y-O-U are the one who need major help.

27. But he was a Democrat!
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 11:11 PM by Drunken Irishman
How hard is it to understand?

Answer me this: Is Joe Lieberman a Democrat now?

Forget where he is on the political spectrum, forget how he voted, or acted, was he a Democrat in 2006?

It's quite sad watching you make a complete and utter fool of yourself here, but it's also pretty funny, as well. You have not brought one damn legitimate argument to this debate except for the fact Biden backed Lieberman in 2006, when he was a Democrat. I mean, if that's all you have, then no Democrat is a Democrat in your eyes, because all at one time or another since Al Gore chose him to be his running mate have accepted Lieberman.

But you go along believing the bullshit you do. You're giving me an awesome amount of entertainment. ;)

28. I would rather vote for a republican like Lincoln Chaffee,
then for a Democrat like Joe Lieberman, if that was my only choice...

I do not believe that Gore "chose" Lieberman to be
his running mate, I believe Lieberman was foisted
on him by the far right of our party.

And Joe Lieberman still calls himself an "Independent DEMOCRAT".

Glad you find flies in our ointment so amusing.

I have said that I won't badmouth Biden in public, but
PUHLEAZE, don't try to make him out to be some kind of
hero. He was a rollover the past 7 years.

30. It doesn't matter if Gore chose him or not, he ran with him.
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 11:24 PM by Drunken Irishman
The bottom line is that Lieberman says he will change his party affiliation to Republican at the GOP convention and if he were to ever be McCain's running mate, he would need to be a Republican. Now you may have it built up in your head that Biden would support Lieberman and never question or go after him, but I doubt it. Biden is a Democrat first and foremost and he had no problem going after Sen. McCain, a good friend...and a Republican.

This isn't about YOU liking Biden. You don't have to like him. This is about you making up this false perception that Biden would support Lieberman, even if he were a Republican. I do not believe this. I believe Biden would go after him hard, more so since he LEFT the Democratic Party.

31. I don't argue that he will "go after him" harder than he did BEFORE he left..
the party. But remember, he didn't LEAVE the party,
the VOTERS KICKED HIM OUT of the party...while Democrats
like Biden threw life rings to him.

The OP said Biden would "tear into Lieberman".
I maintain that he would not.

As Lieberman has NO chance of becoming the VP candidate
for McCain, we will not doubt have to continue to
fantasize about that unlikely scene.

32. Most big-time Democrats threw him a life ring.
And most Democrats will go hard after Lieberman if he does in fact get the nod as McCain's VP. Biden is not beholden to Lieberman, he is beholden to his party now and he knows this. I do not doubt Biden would go hard after Lieberman...friend or not.

But you're right...it is impossible to say because McCain isn't stupid enough to choose a pro-choice Jew.

Puh-lease. They aren't BFF.

You clearly don't like Biden, and that's fine.
I'll assume your going to vote the ticket anyway. If you are not, you shouldn't bother posting here.

15. Remember when Obama recently had a little
talk with him off in the corner of the Senate? Lieberman was threatening something or the other in a committee and Obama asked to speak to him and the photos from it (a couple were taken) were so telling. That was a moment I knew Obama would be a FANTASTIC president. Not just a good one, but an amazing one. Lieberman looked as if he'd shrunk about six inches and wasn't making eye contact, whereas Obama was glaring down on him and obviously giving him a what-for if I ever saw one.

I thought "hell yeah."

So between Obama AND Biden? If it's Lieberman, he'll be too scared to even open his mouth. Ever.

He caused us to lose in 2000 (well, the election was stolen, but you know what I mean).

He will assure McSame to lose in 2008.

If McSame picks Lieberman, I might change my belief from Agnostic/Atheist to God-fearing Liberal!
