There are in reality two reasons they can't show the crowds at Bush's stumps. First is that they're not large. When you see Kerry's stumps, the crowds are huge bordering on vast. I saw Kerry speaking to the VFW on Wednesday--he is at least as good as Bill Clinton, maybe even better. And his speeches are open to the public. Bush's crowds are by-invitation-and-promise-to-vote-for-Dubya only. It is hard to get a ticket for his events, and they are for True Believers only. Those guys are getting pretty sparse. Show Kerry speaking to 30,000 people next to Bush speaking to four hundred?

The second reason (this is one I can't prove--the first we all know is true) is that there is a good possibility that the "crowds" at Bush's speeches travel with him from town to town. It would be easy to do--freepers, ldotters, NewsMax junkies, etc., probably have backchannel communications via the email system that's on any internet server made. They can't put on their public server "need 250 freepers to travel to Bush speeches in Colorado to cheer, hold signs and write reports stating how wonderful Bush was and how horrid the liberals were" because (1) they know we monitor their public board and (2) if they used the public board to recruit, we'd inform the public that Bush speaks only to planted crowds. They can't release photos of the crowds because we'd lay these photos side-by-side and mark off the people who appear in all of them.

Bush is the Spinal Tap president--did stadiums on his last tour, now performs to half-full elementary school auditoriums and his drummers keep exploding on him--and they can't admit it.

All too often, they forgot where they were in place at the previous shoot, and started showing the same lineup constantly.

Besides, many of them don't own any flannel shirts or work clothes, they don't like taking off their ties and jackets and "looking like real people".
