8. Sometimes it takes someone elder to recharge the blood.
When we all listen so attentively and appreciatively to Bill Moyers or Mario Cuomo, their calendar age is far less the point than the many winters they've weathered.

White stones along the road reflect distant moonlight and by their shine we find our way home, together.

When politics is bad, it's often terrible. When it's really, really, good, it's like right now.

18. Hey there. Obama went for the hard-hitting Biden in the match-up
with McCain.

I think as good as Biden was today, the shift quickly will focus to ho hapless McCain has been, how piss-poor his field of veep choices really is, and how long his odds are for the presidency.

Obama scored big today.

28. An early hero of mine....His senate win at age 29 in 1972 coinsided with my freshman year
in college. It was an incredible race, a 29 year old upsetting Caleb Boggs, one of the highest of the "old guard" of the senate of that time. I remember that following the death of his wife and child he seriously considered turning down the seat he had just won to care for his sons. I was heartsick, both for his personal loss and the country's potential loss of his talents. I'm glad he was able to work it out. We're a better country today because of his service.

I certainly don't support everything that Joe Biden ever said and I won't defend all of his votes. There is no political figure like that. But I truly believe he is a gifted, decent man who si capable of being an exceptional leader.

Glad we'll have this chance to see.

While you've said that you weren't really a Hillary supporter it's clear to anyone who has been paying attention that she's the one you spent most of your time here sticking up for. To turn around and now use the war vote against Biden falls flat.

NOT WITH MONEY OR VOTE - WTF IS WRONG WITH YOUR CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS? I DIDN'T SUPPORT HER BECAUSE OF HER VOTE FOR IWR. What I did several times on DU is DEFEND HER against the ramapant sexism and sheer HATRED OF HILLARY.

I've already seen a few Hillary supporters using the IWR vote as an attack on Biden and it's bullshit. They, of all people, have no room to talk.

And my critical thinking skills are just fine, thank you very much.

48. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
The IWR vote is noted and has been wrangled over on this board for some time now, but the choice of Biden by Obama speaks to many things at once.

The Vice President accepts the job which answers in the heirarchy to the president. Obama did not seek a perfect candidate, as there are no perfect candidates, which makes sense because there are also no perfect voters.

Biden has been in the Congress since 1972. You'll find votes you don't like for anyone, of any party, from any state, if a given Rep or Sen has served 36 years, Skittles.

You'll also find votes you resoundly agree with, and Biden has cast many of those as well.
