Hillary Clinton
I like the woman. I think she's smart and brilliant.

That said, had Obama picked her as his VP, the repukes answer to that would have been.

"Obama's gift to the republicans."

She would energize their base like nobodies business. It's unfair and does not do this wonderful woman justice, but they've been gearing up for her for years.

Joe Biden make a great choice and I'm happy with this decision.

1. I agree. The truth is the VP selection would be slammed no matter who Obama chose.

5. Had he picked Clinton, McCain would have simply shut down his campaign.
No way you can run an attack ad on Sen. Clinton. He wouldn't have even tried. He'd have run an ad praising her years of honorable service, and then quit the race.

7. Had he picked Clinton, McCain wouldn't have needed to create attack adds
He'd simply rerun Hillary's ads from the primary.

4. You may be right.
And, unfortunately, if he had picked her, it would have pissed off a lot of those people who supported him because of his theme of 'Change' in Washington. I agree that she deserves more respect than this, but it would have been seen as the 'Bush/Clinton' sandwich that Maher coined, or the same 'ol politics as usual. Obama was in a tough position on this, but he done good.

6. while i agree that the repubs
would have slammed hillary. it's not like biden will get a free pass. he's been in the senate long enough to have a nice stock pile of sound bytes that will be used against him constantly. the ads have already started.
as to the repubs being energized against hillary, i've seen that argument a lot. the thing is that some people here seem to think the repubs won't rally to keep obama out. it doesn't matter who the democrats run, by nov. the repubs will hate them as much as they hate the clintons. jmo but i think that's why the repubs have had the electoral successes they've had. democrats tend to vote for things, repubs tend to vote against things. it's easier to aim the hate vote at a target.

10. I'm with you
And I hope certain DUers can get over their Hillary hate now.

I'm glad she's not the nominee or the V.P. pick, but only because I don't think I could stand the "hunting of the President--the sequel."

She's smart, savvy, and ambitious (and that is NOT a bad thing, folks), knows how to throw an elbow AND take a punch in the gut and keep on truckin'. She would have made an awesome president, but the hounding she would have taken had she been nominated or picked would have turned my stomach. Maybe she can take it, but I didn't want to have to.
