What basis does this lack of foreign policy judgement come from???
He was against the war from the beginning. Hardly anyone thinks the Iraq was was a good idea nowadays.

He suggested we need more attention should be paid in Afghanistan. Now everyone knows agrees Afghanistan needs more attention.

He has long suggested timelines for withdraw from Iraq. Now we are signing an agreement for timetables for withdrawal from Iraq. Which the Iraqi President completely agreed with Obama.

He suggests we should talk to Iran not bomb them. Now even the Bush admin is doing that.

Where on earth did he make a mistake on foreign policy???? What basis does anyone have to say he lacks judgement?????

This just drives me crazy. So what if he hasnt sat in Washington DC for 30 years. He has a brain and knows common sense unlike the war crazy lunatics such as Bush, Cheney, Rummy, McCain who have tons of experience.

1. I don't know--Obama has unerring foreign policy instincts. I don't even
think he really needs Biden for that, myself. But, that's the perception, and Obama chose the running mate he had to choose to overcome it.

3. I think you said it perfectly.
Obama has the right INSTINCTS and analysis of foreign policy issues. But not a lot of actual EXPERIENCE. Biden completes the circle by adding true experience and a second voice to deepen and verify Obama's already good judgment.

2. Good question. It's the rethug framing that's painted Obama,
especially when up against an old time senator who's been around forever, and IS A P.O.W.! We musn't forget that. :eyes:

Obama has been right, and he needs to make a commercial with your talking points.

4. But he does need
someone who can focus on that with great ability and a strong liaison to Congress. We are not talking merely about a political prop against a lame GOP meme. As a candidate we now have a surrogate who can run McCain into the ground on his supposedly strong issue while Obama can focus on the economy. We have been hampered by the fact Obama can't instant response the GOP surprises for many reasons that have nothing to
do with his judgment or experience. Now we have an instant response team member that has the potential of crippling the GOP "Defense" monopoly with incredible political offense. In judging all the other possibilities of weakly, maybe, earning blocs or states I think many are missing this big check on the GOP argument in Biden himself. At the same time it is totally in keeping with choosing someone needed for the job plan, not just the campaign.

Hopefully this will be the one-two rationale that will make doubters eat their hats in November. This could be the turning point, a powerful move to finally put this election away and get on with the business of governing this nation.

People concentrating on the weakest, most defensive argument to pick Biden are likely puzzling over why not any of the others for equally weak considerations.

He fits the bill if they act on it and I think they can because in no way will he overshadow Obama's candidacy or gaffe his areas of expertise. This is not just a hatchet man but a Veep who outshines both GOP candidates as a given, while Obama transcends all.

Oh yeah and thanks news media for carrying putrid water immediately for the GOP spin this morning. That's the best you can do. McCain thinks he is getting packaged by his Convention when he has just been popped into the toaster.
