..in response to the quote from Biden about serving with McCain that the McCain camp is sending out, that Biden was talking about the John McCain who believed what he believed back then and not the one who has changed his position to curry favor with the extreme elements of the right. Does McCain and company really want to go in this direction?

I'm hopeful and confident that Obama/Biden has the sense to do this.

1. That was a dumb move by the McCain campaign

It encourages the media to ask Biden about McCain. This gives him an opportunity to slam McCain big time which could spark a back-and-forth between Biden and McCain. That's a loss for McCain. You don't want to have to fight between your presidential nominee and the other side's V.P. pick. On the Obama side, it would be a mistake to go after Romney for being a Mormon, for example. The press would ask Romney about this and he would try to get into a back-and-forth with Obama about religions, and he'd be singing the praises of Rev. Wright until November.
