I wanted Hillary for a lot of reasons but...
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 07:19 AM by princehal
I am good with this. I have a tinge of sadness though. It's time for a good woman.

But I understand the Biden choice. And can enthusiastically get behind it. Drudge and the other right wing players are going to push the Hillary was screwed meme -- don't fall for it. Don't let them frame this for us. All they want to do is convince some people to become sad, to become disillusioned, and ultimately to keep them away from the polls.

I am never ever going to let the likes of Drudge and Limbaugh tell me what to think of and give me the talking points. It's our future, not theirs -- and we need to grab it.

And for those with no enthusiasm now for Obama; think hard about it please. How can it be hard to be enthusiastic for candidates who are miles and miles above the same old right-wing crap.

Hey I really wanted Edwards too. Thank God I did not get what I want.

/edited to put in an "and"

8. What we have is...
...two intelligent guys. Something we haven't had in eight years. Even if McCain chooses someone intelligent, it'll still be only one intelligent guy on their ticket. Even the media who loves McCain have called him an intellectual light weight.

3. I don't understand this sentiment from Hillary supporters. She's not dead and she'll have her time.
She's still a relatively young woman who will be able to run again and do great things.

At any rate, thanks for come aboard and supporting our nominee and his choice. ;)

6. I think the sadness is for the lost opportunity of having two firsts.
It would have been epic to have both the 1st African-American and the 1st woman elected. I was not a Clinton supporter in the primaries, btw; just sympathetic concerning how some treated her. It would have been grand if we could have broken both barriers in the same election, that's all.

9. at a number of times, I wanted that too...
...but ultimately, you can't have your nominee overshadowed by the drama the Clintons would've brought. It would've been too much.

Since Biden will be 73 in 2016, and probably won't run, no reason why Hillary can't run again. And by then, no one can say she's running on Bill's record, she'll be waaay beyond that by then.

10. If you want to be more empathetic...
...imagine that she won the nom. You hoped that she would at least pick Obama for VP, but she didn't. The end of a dream. It is sad. But, I don't like being sad...I'd much rather be happy!!

15. I understand but take heart. Her political career is not old. Hillary is brilliant and she looks
damn good and she's energetic. I suspect that Obama will appoint her to a very high position. I'm not worried about the Clintons. They are strong and have always persevered.

Never any question about coming aboard.

Had Obama not been the nominee, and If his supporters were disgruntled, I would understand that -- and try to help to convince them to become part of the struggle and I hope victory.

I am here as a Democrat. A proud Democrat.

This is bigger than a Hillary or and Edwards or an Obama. This is our future.

And anyone who believes what the right wing is telling them to believe - for example Drudge's headline last night Obama 'diss to Hill (love the attempt at slang!) should tell us who wants us to believe what.

He look, we all have a lot of emotional investment in who we fight for. But believe me, had Hillary won, some of the Obama folks would have been just as sad. We gotta get over this, and ALL become winners.

16. Your right. And point well taken. Obama was hardly my choice but I just can't stand
the thought of McSame and 4 more years of the same bullshit. Sadly there are still fence-sitters who refuse to come onboard unless it's Hillary. I think they are a very small minority despite what the M$M tells us.

11. Hillary is still a great Senator and we will need her in Washington.
We have a lot of strong women in politics and we have not seen the last of Senator Clinton. But you are right when you say that you can enthusiastically get behind this ticket!! We all need to be ready to fight and don't let the right wing idiots tell us that we are so angry about Hillary that we will not vote for Obama. Great post princehal!!!

And Hillary is a great person. I would love to see her on the Supreme Court. The heads that would explode.

We got that over the RightWingDings -- all of our people are good people. Even Edwards (but again THANK GOD we are not talking about his problem right now)

14. Yup, I pretty much feel the same way.
I was still holding out a sliver of hope for Hillary, but I'm okay with the way it turned out. Hoping to see Hillary as a major part of the administration in some other capacity.
