Well, now that we finally know it is Biden, and the latest "Drama"
Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 07:23 AM by rasputin1952
is behind us. I think we can all take a breath until the Springfield event this afternoon and just take a look at what the future holds.

Of course, not everyone will be satisfied, after all, it is virtually impossible to please everyone. However, now that the latest item has been dealt with, let's not forget that stopping the GOP is our primary responsibility as D's, Liberals and Progressives. We should also not forget that regardless of how anyone feels about this it was Obama's choice, and not ours.

I believe that Obama thought this out well, had a lot of input from his advisors and made the decision that he feels would be best for the nation. I have no doubt that Obama made the choice because Biden will be a very good addition to the D Administration, and I also believe that Biden will be the polar opposite of cheney.

No matter what individual feelings may be, remember, this was not our choice, but Obama's, by understanding that, it will be considerably easier for all of us to get together and crush McCain, thereby helping not just us, but every citizen in this nation. If we don't pull together, the alternative is just too hard to take. The last thing this nation can take, is another R administration. If that happens, we very seriously risk the collapse of this Democratic Republic.

So, let's come together, and back our future president and his VP...after all, there really aren't any other options, except the death of American Democracy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

3. For those not all that familiar with Joe
and some of the comments yesterday indeed suggest that there are many with a "sound bite" knowledge limited to "big mouth" and "bankruptcy" and "beltway insider" here is a website I cobbled together back in December when i was working on Joe's campaign:

There is plenty more to read/view out there, but this is a good sampling.

4. for what its worth
I have met Joe, stood by his side while he talked to well-wishers one-at-a-time after a campaign event. The man is awesome. You don't really get a feel for the real Joe when he is on camera in a prepared setting - not to say that he isn't great then - but as a one-on-one "people person" with the public, with single moms, GLBTs, elderly, each with their own issues, he seems to form an incredible rapport - everyone else in the world disappears and he actually LISTENS and empathizes, does not answer with sound bites. If he doesn't have an answer he doesn't brush them off; he just talks to them about it, makes it clear he cares and is learning from them. They go away reassured that at least they got their issue on the table.

And you won't find a stronger "family man" anywhere. The devotion of his sister, wife, sons, brother to him on the campaign trail was incredible. They all just love him to pieces. I spent some time with his brother during a couple of "events" where his job was to watch the clock and get Joe out of there on time. He joked about it, was obviously SO proud of Joe, he just could not stop grinning when he watched him.

The whole family were down-to-earth, friendly to all the volunteers, appreciative of all the little things. His running was THEIR idea, after all.

When this guy makes the rounds in Pa, Ohio, etc. he'll seal the deal with the so-called "blue-collar-voters" big time, as well as other dem constituencies.

His campaign never got off the ground largely because there were two media darlings in the mix. They drew big crowds and big donations. That does not reflect on his campaigning ability nor ability to win over voters. With the deck cleared of that obstacle, I can't WAIT to see him turned loose on the "soft spots," and put mccain into another tailspin.

7. I have no qualms w/Biden at all...
From what i've seen, he's intelligent, has empathy, experience, a well rounded knowledge of issues that affect average Americans and has all of the higher qualities we expect of an elected official. Naturally, I won't agree w/him 100%, but that is a far cry from the 0% I agree w/on McCain.

I think he'll be an excellent VP and adviser to Obama...:D

5. Excellent post, sir, and recommended.
I have no problem with the choice of Biden. I wanted it to be Hillary, but well, she wasn't chosen.

I fully support Obama/Biden and will work for them in November.

8. I've already written a welcome aboard memo
that came with the announcement from the Obama campaign. Joe will be great. Obama made a wise choice and I am sure they will be able to work together very well. GObama!

10. Looks to me like Biden is a real person, not someone who...
hob-knobs w/the "rich & famous". I was pretty impressed w/the bagels he handed out the other day to the Press at his house, it's what I would have done. Little things like that make me think of him as human and compassionate...far away from the scowling anti-social cheney, who, if given the chance, would have the Press shackled and tossed into jail.
