Edited on Sat Aug-23-08 01:28 AM by pirhana

Change with Experience

Washington outsider with someone who knows how to get things done

Cool temper - hot blooded

Thoughtful ~ passionate

young - old

New - history

Voted against the war - Has son being deployed to Iraq

Two great orators - one who speaks like a professor - one that talks like a regular 'Joe'

There is no way the repugs can beat this ticket.
Obama + Biden cover all the bases.

edit to add -
And they BOTH have one house and both love their wife.

They manage to embarrass their women by their misdeeds whenever possible, because women are second-class citizens created to be their servants, just like blacks & Latinos.

70. Why do you say it won't work?
Besides, I don't think Biden's appeal is necessarily to "older people." I think he has a populist, working class appeal and he will assuage some concerns about Obama's perceived lack of experience. What do you see as the problem? Did you want Hillary as VP?

27. Obama + someone who isn't Clinton. And while I like Biden otherwise, and I know how much Clinton is
hated by many DUers, if you think adding Biden to the ticket instead of Clinton will increase Obama's support among Dems, I'm afraid you're deluding yourselves.

I like Biden. But I can't see one single reason he's a better choice than Clinton. He's criticized Obama, he's a Washington insider, etc. This is going to be viewed by her supporters, those Democrats who aren't supporting Obama yet, as an "anyone but Clinton" choice, and it'll be viewed as a slap at her and at her supporters.

We needed a unity ticket, and that was Obama/Clinton.

I could be wrong about this. But all the polls suggest I'm right. Obama has not been able, in two months after the primaries, to unite the party. He's barely ahead in the polls because Dems aren't as united as Republicans, and the great numerical advantage Dems have over Republicans isn't translating into the 10-point lead Obama would have with the party united behind him.

There was one obvious solution to this, and he made a painfully obvious decision not to take it.

I'll be very surprised if the polls show this helped Democratic Party unity.

I like Biden. I like him much more than Obama. But with Obama as our nominee, and Clinton getting approximately as many votes, it made no sense whatsoever for Obama to choose anyone else as his running mate. Especially someone who can be just as easily hit with the same arguments DUers tended to use for saying she shouldn't be Obama's VP (she's a senator, she said Obama wasn't ready to be prez, etc.).

So, despite Biden being a great Democratic politician, this was a really poor choice for this election.

But the blame for that isn't Biden's. I wish Obama had been paying more attention to the polls, rather than trying to tell himself he can win those voters over anyway without Clinton.

72. wohoa. great observation!
the talking yaps on CNN are saying that Obama is going against the 'change' and 'new' he professes by selecting Biden who has been old washington for decades - the asshats wouldn't be happy with Anyone Obama chose!

really wise pick on Obama's part - you hit all the right points!

We know which one is the vinegar. Obama soothes, Biden bites (the opposition).

80. Voted against the war?
Obama was against the invasion of Iraq, but was not a US Senator at the time. Biden voted for the IWR, but regrets his vote now.

92. On balance, I'm happy
Obama wouldn't be my first choice, nor would Biden.

But it's damn close enough.

Now let's kick some lying GOP butt.

95. Mine choice was actually Biden/Obama once.
So I'm pretty psyched. Thinking about the Obama/Biden bumper sticker my car will soon be wearing makes me smile. :)
