saw it on CNN or here at DU? I signed up for the Text message thing but only because I didn't know if I was going to be around a TV or radio when it was announced and I wanted to know as soon as possible. I thought it would be cool to be at work and get a text message and know right then and there instead of having to wait until I was off to get the news. Who gives a flying fuck how you get the info? The message is exactly the same either way. The Text message thing would just assure you got the info faster if you weren't around a TV. I can't believe anyone truly cares about the Text Message thing. Not to mention most normal Americans went to bed two or three hours ago and don't know Biden is probably the guy and they will wake up to a text message from Obama giving them the "hot" news and they will feel special. It will work for the 90% of people who live normal lives and are not political junkies like we are.

It seems this Text Message thing has been a HUGE success! More attention paid to the VP choice than ever before. Good job done by Obama's team.

1. Difference is the hype about something that didn't work.

2. The gripes are from people who are looking for a reason to complain...

This is an excellent choice.

4. A childish temper tantrum
Will all the ones who insist that they do not trust AP - the source of the story - until they get the text, apologize tomorrow?

No, of course not. They will just pout.

7. I said to myself early in the week that if I didn't get my text message
in giant letters of fire written across the heavens, I'd be irreconcilably pissed and would vote for Bob Barr.

So don't even TRY to console me!

8. Makes no difference how we get the news...
This is the strangest year...satellite trucks parked around all the potential picks counts, a buildup like we've never seen before.

So I think there are those few among us who are hypersensitive that it didn't come off as planned, but this year is like none before.

9. I just feel bad that Obama kind of got scooped.
His campaign said it was very important to him/them that his supporters were the first ones notified. I'm sorry it didn't work out quite as planned -- we were THIS CLOSE to pulling it off!

10. yeah....
that's pretty much how I feel. Barack said he was real disciplined on the subject, and that it was important to him that it not get disclosed except by him. I still have not seen anything that comes from the official Obama camp, so in a way, in my mind at least, it is not official yet. I was hoping for Biden, so it's not that...it's just the principle of the thing.

12. Yes -- I'm sorry it didn't work out for them as they'd hoped, but
they sure had a good ride 'til the very end!

And, bottom line, it doesn't really matter in the long run.

13. Getting the text makes a person "special", an "insider",
one of the "select elite", someone with, for a brief moment, a secret that nobody else knows.

It's like being 7 years old again and sending in the box top for the Captain Video Secret Decoder Ring, and then not getting the ring.

It's an ego thing, and everyone who is whining is whining because their 7-year old egos got bruised. They didn't get their magic decoder ring. They didn't get to be a super duper special privileged insider with a secret. WHAAAAAA! I want my ego stroke, and I want it NOW!
