I would not put it past the Obama team to punk the media by dressing up a couple of buff guys in suits, dark glasses and earpieces and sending them to Joe Biden's house, along with a few leaks from anonymous sources as part of a head fake.

You or I or anyone else can dress however we want, and go wherever we want, and surround whoever we want (even on their property, with their consent).

It's not illegal to lie to the press. The press isn't a judge. Impersonating a law enforcement officer may be illegal if you're actually impersonating a law enforcement officer and not just dressing however you want, going wherever you want, and surrounding whoever you want.
