Does Chet Edwards' last name doom his chances of being chosen as VP?
In light of recent events featuring the ex-senator from North Carolina?

I know here in Illinois, the Republicans kept nominating guys with the last name Ryan for prominent statewide posts, and even though they were not related to the disgraced former Governor George Ryan, their candidacies never got off the ground.

Does Chet Edwards now face a similar conundrum?

2. I would hope his right-wing tendencies would doom his chances.

5. If his record did not, I would hope his name does. Who wants to spend one's time to explain
to people that he is not the Edwards who cheated on his wife, but another one, an obscure Congressman from Texas, particularly when Chet Edwards is probably 180 % from John Edwards's political platform in 2008.

12. Wasn't he also the older bro on Happy Days?
The guy who completely ceased to exist after the first season?

Or was that Chuck?

Oh well.... there won't be anybody named Chuck on this ticket either.

16. It was Chuck...
written out in the second season. Started the phrase "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome".

8. No.
John Edwards isn't well known enough among regular voters for the name to be a factor.

17. Are you serious?
He was on a national ticket four years ago and was a major presidential candidate this year, and is currently the center the of a major news scandal.

Not well known enough?

11. His last name is all he has going for him at all, more than likely.
People would hear "Obama Edwards" and assume it was John.

Thank God we won't have to worry about that, because an unknown DINO from Chimpsville is not going to be the VP.

13. Yes.
But he's not the guy. Nobody knows him. It would be a foolish pick.

It's Biden, almost certainly. As it should be.

15. I doubt it. Omaba knows a thing or two about overcoming name association.
Not that Chet was ever a candidate anyway AFAIK.
