One thing's for sure, the Obama Campaign is playing this brilliantly
They can sit on this all day, they are still dominating the news cycle. NOT talking about McCain is almost as bad for McCain as negative press, Obama has completely snuffed him out. Let's say Obama announces at 3pm EST, that gives him the news cycles through the weekend, then he's got a week to himself for the convention. All the while we're slowly running out the clock.

Well Played, Obama.

50. Nah. Run this right up to the convention.
Then after the convention, the VP can stay on houses, while Obama moves on to the Iraq timetable, the economy, and just about anything else he wants to talk about.

Keep hitting McCain on the houses thing for a few days. If McCain's boys think they branded Obama with the 'celebrity' thig, they have no idea what the word 'branding' means.

Foot on the neck time. Milk Seven Houses for all it's worth. McCain's negatives will be in the 60s by the time his convention rolls around.

He just blew everyone out of the water when he first announced...including Hillary. I'm a supporter of hers, too, and no one has been able to play the media like this...except Obama.

Brilliant, IMO.

This was a marketing technique to collect phone numbers to text people to remind them to vote on 11/4 and to have the MSM staring at a cell phone for a day

Every news organization probably has a cell phone they just purchased with the only thing done to it was text VP to 62262

I work at home. The office is a 3-hour drive away. Work is slow right now, so I'm not really doing any damage. If there was work to do, I'd be doing it. But, from the time I did work out of the office, I don't recall anybody being a political junkie like me.

an assessment publishing company assuring the quality of the tests, manuals, and ancillaries, so I'm part of the problem with the test-obsessed educational system. BUT I try to do my best in correcting test questions that are biased, based on the party line (history questions), and just plain wrong information. Everything has been digitized now so some of us work at a distance. My mother's Alzheimer's required someone be at home with her, so here I am working from home rather than in the office.

And you?

16. I was just wondering whether I was the only one who felt this way
It would have to be John Lennon or Martin Luther King or JFK to live up to all the hoopla. It's being WAY overdone, whether by design or not... and the McMansion story would be getting even more play if it weren't for all this frantic talking about nothing. It's like watching one of those highway car chases that CNN used to run.

22. But it DOMINATES the news cycle.
The only thing we're hearing about McCain right now is how fucking rich and out of touch he is. Whereas, this game of "Who's he gonna pick" is 1) POSITIVE, 2) Demonstrates how enthralled people are with his campaign, 3) Is driving the media up a fucking wall, 4)It is getting people EXCITED and talking about his campaign. All the watercooler conversation in my office is about who he's gonna pick... and these are not political people.

I plan on supporting him no matter who he chooses, so I'm not pressed about it. He'll tell you when he's god-damned good and ready and no amount of bitching, whining or complaining will have any effect on his decision or the timing of his decision.

Deal with it.

57. No offense, but getting "pissed off" is a foolish response
I mean no offense to you, but this really isn't that big a deal, and they know it. People do NOT vote for the VP, they vote for the candidate. So the big huge positive here is just keeping him front and center in the news cycle. Try to keep some perspective and just go with it. I don't understand why so many people are *allowing* themselves to be put on tenter hooks over this whole thing--it will happen at the critical moment. Util then, just relish all the wonderful poop flying at McCain.

It's not his campaign. it's the media. Take it up with them.

No one is going to rush him to reveal his decision or whine enough to change his mind either way.

it won't be a disappointment. Of that I have no doubt.

can't you have a little faith in our nominee? Or is this an excuse to criticize?

The news risks becoming seriously anti-climatic otherwise with so much of the speculation centering on him. The longer this drags out the more *POP* Biden loses.

If it is anyone else they can still milk this as long as they want.
