1. I was wondering the same thing myself. I remember I first heard about it on the radio after getting
gas.

2. Remember when Paddy posted a picture of Edwards holding a note that said "you got served"
under the title of "For the Clark Supporters"

That shit was classic.

14. That's exactly right. And it hit DU almost immediately thereafter.
I seem to remember it happening in the wee hours... weren't we all awake, eagerly awaiting the announcement then, too?

7. I dislike the high drama of it all.
Really, is it that hard to just tell us when you know who you've picked? Why the grand theater and suspense?

17. I think the suspense is working.... Obama is ruling the air waves and has people's attention
But now he has to give us something interesting. If it's all this build up and then someone boring like Bayh, people will be disappointed.

8. Remember the newspaper calling it for Gephardt (a la "Dewey Defeats Truman")?
Was that the NY Post or the NY Daily News?

9. I remember some anticipation but Kerry didn't really allow it to build up to this extent.
I mean it was announced like 3 weeks before the convention. Kerry did attempt to be secretive about it since he was trying to inform his supporters first via email but it got leaked because of the plane decal.

16. No one leaked anything back in 2004. It's leaks or deliberate misdirections driving
the bloggers right now. Plus, Dumbass McAuliffe set up the Dem convention for the last week in July, FIVE FUCKING WEEKS before the GOP convention, so Kerry HAD to make his choice much more quickly. And the Dem powerstructure that was running the party then (Clinton-McAuliffe-Carville) were actively pushing for Edwards.

and very little bounce.

No one knew who it was for sure but the overwhelming favorite here was Edwards. I remember being here the night before the official announcement when the New York Post said Gephardt was the choice and this place was crazy, people were pretty pissed about it. Then we found out it was Edwards and it was even crazier, almost everyone was happy and relieved that it wasn't Gephardt.

25. Nope. Because it was announced
much earlier than this, and a lot of us felt early on that Edwards was running for the VP slot in the first place.
