Linda Ammons, dean of the Widener University School of Law, said students enrolled in a class scheduled to be taught at 9 a.m. Saturday by U.S. Sen. Joe Biden won’t be getting an excused absence.
“The class will take place tomorrow,” Ammons said. “We don’t know just yet whether the senator will be here. A lot of it is contingent on what happens later today and tomorrow.”
Biden has been teaching at the Talleyville university since 1991. The nearly two hour course, “Selected Topics in Constitutional Law,” is taught by Biden and Robert Hayman, who would fill in if the senator is unable to make it.
Ammons said she spoke to Biden Thursday for about 20 minutes about the class and other topics, including the death of Democrat Illinois U.S. Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones.
Biden and Ammons tried to work out a schedule if he is Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama’s pick to run for vice president. But she said he did not give any indication if that was happening.
Biden has taught the class even when running for office.
