If I can't have Wes Clark, then allow me to make a case FOR Joe Biden...
Joe Biden is not the *best* candidate for the Vice Presidency, but he is very strong. After sitting down and make a good/bad list, I've decided that Biden is probably the best bet for Obama now that Wes Clark seems to be out of the running...

So here's my list of positives/negatives:

Negatives:

1. He's a corporatist Democrat. I personally dub him "Mr. MBNA." Voted *for* the bankruptcy bill. This is one mistake that really turned me off about Biden; however, I suppose he represents his constituency.
2. He supported the Iraqi invasion. He should have read the National Intelligence Estimate.
3. I have personally never forgiven him for how he treated Anita Hill during the Clarence Thomas SCOTUS hearings in the Senate back in 1991.
4. He often has a propensity to run off at the mouth or be long-winded.
5. He is a Senator from DE, a state that does nothing for Obama in terms of the election.
6. He voted for the Patriot Act, against the Levin-Reed Amendment.
7. He clearly has capped teeth and bad hair plugs.

Positives:

1. He's the Attack Dog that Obama needs.
2. He was the only Democrat who was right about the challenges we face in Pakistan. I believe that Obama learned from him.
3. He has apologized about his support for the Iraqi invasion and has offered a coherent plan for withdrawal that was highly praised. (His and Senator Dodd's plan for withdrawal was voted down by the Reps in the Senate but was highly praised.)
4. He was right about Afghanistan and allowing bin Laden to escape at Tora Bora.
5. He has served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for over 30 years and is now the Chairman.
6. Unlike Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden really is from Scranton, PA. He has the credibility to work the working class whites and may help Obama in PA if he campaigns there.
7. He lost his wife and infant daughter in a terrible car accident, and unlike McSame, waited FIVE years before remarrying.
8. His son is the Attorney General for the State of Delaware.
9. His other son has just found out that he will be deployed to Iraq. McSame has two sons over in Iraq but this gives Biden cover when criticizing McSame.
10. Despite the teeth and hair plugs, he is a nice looking man and looks distinguished and smart.
11. Though he is forceful and an Attack Dog, fearless and articulate, he is also extremely funny and has a warm, affable demeanor. I'm sure we'll never forget his memorable retort against Rudy Giuliani: "All he has is a noun, verb, and 911!" Well, this past week while fending off reporters and members of the M$M who were trying to find out about his chances for the VP, he brought bagels and coffee to those who were camping out at his house. HILARIOUS!!

I may add to this as I remember more points. But my positives outweigh the negatives. Again, he's not the best VP choice but he certainly is qualified and is probably the second best choice. I think he'll please all ideological spectrum, left, right and center.

Joe Biden is very well respected even when I disagree with him vehemently on some issues.

I worked hard for Clark in the last election. I sure hope he gets a major cabinet post. But I also like Biden.

Before he dropped out of the primary race, he was my candidate.

I watched an interview with a collge girl who was asked who she liked best. She'd been doing her homework. She said that she agreed most with Biden's platform, but she'd never heard of him before. I trust him and think he's a really good guy. I'll be happy with him.

3. LOL!! I'd much rather have Biden as the Sec of State and Clark for VP...
Doesn't look like that'll happen, though.

6. The positives don't outweigh the negatives
He is the epitome of finger in the wind politican in bed with lobbyists and the symbol of what Obama was supposedly running AGAINST.

No way I would consider voting for a ticket with someone like Biden on it.

7. That's fair but none of the candidates for VP is perfect. One can find long lists of negatives
for each one. Apparently Wes didn't pass the vetting process.

9. There is not perfect...
Like Kaine, Fiengold, Clark, Clarke and a bunch of others... no one is perfect.

and then there is the symbol of what Obama was running against.

Clinton, Biden, Bayh... those politicians who are in the pockets of lobbyists and make decisions based upon what their masters tell them OR which way they believe the wind is blowing, no matter how deadly that mistake may be.
