In the latest Rasmussen Poll its Obama now up by just a single point, and McSame actually gaining in the electoral college count in the last 24 hours.

I can't believe this.

to me, it is even more damaging than the Mcnopoly gaffe. I remember reading about it on Free Republic last year, couldn't understand why they always called him "McLettuce"--of course, that was back when they hated him and thought Fred Thompson was going to be the Great White Hope.

in a church belonging to the same denomination as Barack Obama's?

Ok, it's a fleeting coincidence, but I just felt like tagging it on.

"Incompetence" might be a tad strong. There is so much to pick from when it comes to McCain's record, but obviously, since I started stirring up this shit on the $50/hour lettuce thing, I really, really want it out there. I find it insulting on a visceral level, and have since I first heard it ages ago.

27. Ras daily tracking polls are based on a three day rolling average
That poll is an average of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. We probably won't see clear effects on McCain's numbers until Friday.

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 1,000 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. The margin of sampling error—for the full sample of 3,000 Likely Voters--is +/- 2 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for the full-week results are available for Premium Members.

31. It's too early for Housegate to have much impact, if it will help us much. It might help a little,
but I believe DUers and the Obama campaign are overestimating the impact on the voters most likely to vote for McCain anyway.

And since it gave the McCain campaign an excuse to bring up the help Obama got from Rezko, it was essentially a wash for us, especially because some of the media reviews are emphasizing that the campaign has become "nastier."

Here's John Dickerson's take on it in Slate:

http://www.slate.com/id/2198381

Both the VP announcement and the start of the convention will lessen the impact of Housegate, too.

The VP choice will have much more impact.

By the way, the tracking polls average polling over the last few days, so you have to wait a few days for the impact of any event.

33. Oh for crying out loud. Educate yourself about the polls.
1. There's always a lag factor. When was this Rasmussen poll done? Prior to the house thing, I would guess.

2. There's always a large margin of error. A one point shift is meaningless.

3. There are serious questions about the accuracy of the polls. Intentional and unintentional bias appears to be rampant.

Take all poll results with a huge grain of salt. Stop obsessing over them.

As long as foreclosures and economic strife continue to be frontpage news, McCain The War Hero means a lot less.

And the 'Obama is an elitist' smear goes nowhere.

Big plus for the Democrats.

He bought it for less than the original asking price, but that's typical in real estate transactions. The house had been on the market for a while, so it obviously wasn't worth what the sellers initially asked.
