Obama notifies candidates on VP shortlist
(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama has told some of the candidates on his vice president shortlist that they didn't make the cut, CNN has learned, but he's still not naming names.

Sen. Barack Obama says he has decided on his running mate but is not yet ready to reveal the name.

Obama is at home Friday in Chicago, Illinois, with no public events planned before launching a string of rallies with his running mate ahead of the Democratic National Convention next week in Denver, Colorado.

Obama said Thursday that he had decided on his running mate but declined to give any further details.

"I won't comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world," he told reporters in Emporia, Virginia. "That's all you're going to get out of me."

Obama is expected to appear at a rally with his running mate Saturday in Springfield, Illinois. It's unclear just when the campaign will announce the vice presidential choice via text message.

1. I bet reporters are calling everyone on all the lists, asking if they got a call.
Obama better text soon. Now that he has contacted others, leaks will happen.

4. I think "Houses" will be a brand/theme from here on out.
Everytime Mccain criticizes Obama on elitism, or trys to speak about the middle class or the economy---the response will be, "this from a man that doesn't know how many homes he owns". From now until November.

5. Is Obama waiting until EVERYONE in the US is awake?
Because Hawaii is the state that's the slowest and it's 6 hours behind everyone.... I don't know if I can wait 6 more hours. :(

6. This Californian has been up for an hour already ...
I'm going to be sluggish at work today but ... I
couldn't go back to sleep so I gave up.

COME ON, BARACK -- END THE SUSPENSE!

8. Oh man, I woke up in the early morning too because I was so tense over it.
Good thing I did get some sleep but I think I'll crash once I actually find out. Seriously, the suspense is even better than caffeine at keeping me awake.

10. And the surprising thing is ... I'm on DU but NO COFFEE YET!
I'm finally brewing some but you're right -- the
anticipation is enough to get me buzzing without
any other stimulant.

Oh no -- Jessica Yellin saying this may not happen
until 6PM EASTERN TONIGHT? WTF? How am I supposed
to get ANYTHING done at work today?

The only way he could have that large an audience is the convention --- right?
