Hillary Clinton tackles Florida for Obama

The Swamp

by Mark Silva

When Barack Obama's presidential campaign opened a field office in Pahokee, they got our attention here in the Swamp.

And Hillary Clinton counts on getting Florida's attention tomorrow, as she campaigns for Obama from the Orlando area to South Florida on Thursday, with stops in Palm Beach and Broward counties.

As the schedule of the New York senator and erstwhile candidate for the presidential nomination that Obama will get next week in Denver puts it, Clinton will explain, at a rally in Palm Beach County "why Barack Obama is the only choice for voters who care about issues important to women in this election. ''

Palm Beach, home of the "butterfly ballot'' in the disputed presidential election of 2000, and Broward counties were Ground Zero of a ballot battle in that year before Ground Zero assumed another terrible meaning in modern American parlance.

5. Florida will be critical again...and I HATE to say that...
we just seem to be in the eye of the storm! Sorry.

Hilary is popular in Florida. Honestly, my major issue is a fair election and a Democrat in the WH. As long as the electoral college is the rule, big states are an issue. Just like the DNC primary rules; those are the election rules!

The GOP targets Florida because they know it matters.

If she campaigns here, it will make a difference.

6. Hope Hilary do not disappoint!
I hope this is the first step of many of her showing some support of Barack. This can be the beginning of a lot of fence mending! Please, Hilary, do Barack some justice.

9. While I agree it is unlikely to be Hillary, I think that your reasoning is flawed. I don't think
that the VP nominee is going to be with Obama tomorrow, regardless of who it is. Usually the running-mate is revealed one day, and then we see the presidential and vice-presidential candidates together the next. That's what Gore did in 2000 and I thought that Kerry did it that way in 2004. Of course, it's possible that Obama will do it differently...we'll have to wait and see

Steve
