Obama Team: Report of a planned Indiana trip is untrue.
Tea Leaf Reading on the Way to the Vice Presidency

By Anne E. Kornblut
MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- The Obama campaign offered a rare, concrete piece of information about the vice presidential process on Wednesday, declaring that Sen. Barack Obama is not -- repeat not -- going to Indiana on Saturday.

A web site in Tennessee, nashvillepost.com, had reported that he would make such a trip, citing sources in Denver. That triggered a wave of excitement and panic among the traveling reporters, who have all signed up for the text message that Obama plans to send out to supporters when he makes his pick -- but are otherwise spending their time waiting for clues, however meaningless and small.

An Obama aide, perhaps feeling sorry for the group, stated unequivocally that the report of a planned Indiana trip is untrue.

But it's still unknown at what exact moment Obama will make his announcement, or who it will be. He does have a narrowing window of opportunity: after campaigning by bus in Virginia on Wednesday and Thursday, he is expected to fly back to Chicago, and appears to have open time on his schedule on Friday. Then, on Saturday, Obama is expected to appear in Springfield, Ill., with his selected running mate.

1. Hmm...let's start putting out false rumors, and then we can wait for the
O Team to respond, thus giving us clues...that's pretty crafty...

2. The Obama Team needs to end the speculation already..... it's now at the point where it's beginning
to be a negative.

5. Yeah, supporters are battling each other.
End the speculation before fresh divisions and fatigue set in. It's made it to Hillary being obsessed over, time to nip it in the bud.

6. That's good. I don't care much for Bayh. I want Clark, Biden, Gore
or Richardson. And that's final.
