Obama volunteers, please tell your stories here.
I know there are a fair number of you on the ground, boot shuffling volunteers for the obama camp here on DU.
First off, THANK YOU!

Second, can I ask you to make a post about what your feelings are on how things are going, on whether you see the back and forth emotional rolling coaster down at reality street level that we sometimes see here.

I think we all need to hear what the 3D world of the campaign is experiencing rather the 0000000's and 11111111's world here.

1. So Many Calls, So Few Real Contacts
dang Democrats, move around too much. Registered Democrats overwhelmingly support Obama -

Unaffiliated voters are whiny and indecisive - not just about the election, but many aspects of their life. This one woman I spoke to last night - undecided. I asked if I could answer any questions on issues that concerned her...NO she said. I asked if she waited for the debates to make her decision, NO she said, she doesn't watch the debates. I asked her, how do you make your decision - and she couldn't come up with an answer. She's struck me as one of those gut type people, or will wait so long, come election day, she may just not vote.

4. Miami Beach is very organized, thanks to a great field director -
Mike- who, unfortunately, just got transferred to PA (it was actually a promotion). But things are in good shape down here- amazing actually! We made over 1200 calls last night alone (South Beach, Mid-Beach, North Beach), we're registering voters on the weekend in various places ("Beach Blanket Bingo for Barack") and considering it's only August, we are doing fine. I've been told that Florida is hugely organized all over the state which is wonderful- field staff are everywhere, new offices are opening every few weeks- it's very inspiring. Also, what's really great to see is that the volunteers are all ages, all nationalities, all different professions- really nice cross section of our community.

Great energy- really exciting!

The deal is that we need a LANDSLIDE- or, frankly, we're screwed. Because if it's a close race, we have no way ot do a recount- except on the opti-scan machines. Although we'll have paper ballots that could be counted, Jeb Bush's last gift to Florida was making it illegal to do a recount using paper- only a machine recount. In other words, if the race is too close to call, we are legally, only permitted to recount the machines which will no doubt, once again, be rigged.

6. great to hear. gotta agree with the landslide thing
this one has got to be unstealable and that's the only way I can think it can be - massive participation and registration and turn-out.

Always suspicious of the media and the pollsters and I can't say exactly how we can challenge their fudged up numbers when push comes to shove.

I mean if the media and polls decide the race is close for their needs and convenience, but the ground and every other indication says it's a landslide for O, what the hell is to be done?

5. got the chance to knock on doors in Savannah Georgia for O before Super Tuesday
looking forward to doing it some more.

Call banking is tiring, boring, and rarely gets anything done. I like to be boots on the ground.

8. K&R- interested in hearing more about how things are going on the ground
Please share your stories- the Obama campaign is I'm sure, checking in here from time to time. Also I'm curious to hear how other areas are doing.
