Which of two narratives is most damaging to Obama?
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 11:31 AM by Skwmom
To me it seems like there are two narratives they are trying to create.

1. He is inexperienced.
2. He is just another politician.

The inexperienced meme will not kill his candidacy. The American Public are fed up to here with so called Washington experience. Their best shot is to paint Obama as just another politician who will say and do anything to get elected.

I think that is why they are pushing the inexperienced, Obama needs to pick an experienced Washington Insider meme. If they can get him to make that mistake then they will go full throttle with the "he is just another politician" message (which they have already been pushing). McCain in comparison will look like a maverick (non-politician). This will hurt Obama with disenchanted Republicans, Independents, and Progressive Democrats.

On edit: I changed my subject to clarify my post.

1. I honestly don't see how this could be helpful
I'm sure the McCain campaign can spend their own dime coming up with ways to trash our candidate.... We don't need to do that kind of work for them.

2. I am commenting on what they are ALREADY doing.

I am pointing out in my opinion the whole "he is inexperienced" meme, while not helpful, will not help McCain in the way that the "Obama is just another politician" meme they are trying to push.

I could see your point IF I was coming up with some new line of attack for the Republicans. I am not. They want McCain to take the change mantle. They ONLY way that can be achieved is to paint Obama as just another politician.

This is an election year where just another politician will not win (which is why they have been pushing the McCain is a maverick lie).
