So anyone giving shit to Joe Biden about the IWR vote remember this - he's got a kid over in Iraq now - so the decision he makes about war affects his own flesh & blood.

BTW, if there is one reason Joe might not take VP is because he wants to save his seat for his son to take over one day. And if Beau is over in Iraq that can't happen in 2008, it'll probably end up being whomever doesn't win the Governor primary either Jack Markell or Jim Carney (Markell would be a great senator, Carney is another DLC like Tom Carper)

1. Beau could run in 2010 for his father's seat

Manlove said a special election would not be held to replace Biden in the Senate, and the replacement would serve for two years until the next federal election date in 2010.

2. True, but if Joe gives Beau the seat it would be an easier race for him.
Beau had already had a difficult race winning AG AND I'm sure the person who gets the seat in 2008 probably would not be ready to just turn it over especially if they go with Markell or Carney.

And it's standard issue that there is a special election the following election cycle. (Usually one of the even number years)

3. Beau commented back in Iowa many months ago that he was happy as AG
Of course his father commented that he didn't want to be VP. Must be a family trait.

5. Well, his serving in Iraq will surely help him win the race.
What a bonus.

4. Isn't his kid a JAG Officer? Big difference between JAG and infantry or truck driver, etc.
I give a shit about Biden's IWR vote b/c it says he is UNFIT to be commander-in-chief. Too stupid or too self-serving, it doesn't matter (both make him unfit to serve).
