It pains me to say it but we must be willing to lie about McCain if they lie about us.

I am talking about stooping to the kind of push polling Bush did against McCain in 00 if need be:

¨If you were to find out that McCain left his wife for a model after she became disfigured in an auto accident would it impact your vote?" (which of course is not actually a lie).

If Obama will not do it I hope someone does.

Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 09:11 AM by nxylas
If the truth is so damaging, why would we need to lie?

12. Be better than they are AFTER you win!!
Was the moral high ground of 2004 worth the resulting 4 years?

You want to win, destroy John McCain.

14. Claiming moral high ground is an act of desperation
This is politics. Give me honesty and sound principles. I don't recognize moral high ground here.

6. Do you think the corporate media would let any Dem lie with the freedom they give Republicans?
Edited on Wed Aug-20-08 09:13 AM by blm
Please tell me when that has ever happened. Because I am of the certainty that the media would CRUCIFY any Dem caught lying about a Republican. Hell, they crucify Dems for telling the truth about Republicans.

7. More truth:
¨If you were to find out that McCain produced over thirty propaganda clips for the North Vietnamese while in captivity, would it impact your vote?"

¨If you were to find out that McCain left violated the US Navy Code of Conduct by giving military information to the North Vietnamese while in captivity, would it impact your vote?"

8. I find that point of view revolting.
If we have to stoop to such depths to compete then frankly I would no longer want any part of the process.

11. I was just told I have no "veritas" when I said the same thing in another thread
And that it's better to win than have "moral purity."

Isn't that a nice approach to both politics and life? I thought, on DU and in GDP, that the end does NOT justify the means.

I would rather McCain win than have the Dems turn into Rove.

16. You cannot fight someone who will knife you by debating them.
At first I thought like you but if you are trying to fight barbarians with civilization the barbarians win.

If Gandhi had fought the Nazi regime with non violent tactics he would have become a spec on the pavement and the Indian people would still be slaves. He fought a constitutional monarchy and was able to win with those tactics. One simply must adjust the tactics to the enemy.

I just soo strongly disagree. And - actually, your post contradicts your headline. The *fact* is that there are plenty enough FACTS ... TRUTHS ... that can, and should (and I believe, will) get out there.
