The next Vice President?
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 11:39 AM by thewiseguy

Obama gives a shout out to his VP?

(CNN) — In a week where vice-presidential speculation has reached a feverish pitch, Barack Obama gave tea-leaf readers another reason to suspect he will name fellow Sen. Joe Biden his running mate later this week.

Speaking to veterans in Orlando, Florida, Obama specifically called out the Delaware senator and former presidential candidate, calling him a 'friend' and saying he agreed with Biden's call for U.S. assistance to Georgia.

4. Its In The 1980s, If They Attack It, Then Keating Scandal Is Fair Game
Actually the Keating scandal should be fair game, but people dismiss it as ancient history. My take is that if they raise it with Biden, then it is great reason to revisit McCain's record in the 1980s.

6. That was a long time ago, and I don't think it will do much damage--
what worries me are three things: loose mouth, big ego (Joe loves the spotlight), and years and years of interviews, statements, and Senate votes. Tons of possible oppo material there.

7. It's a BS charge and anyone who wants to look into it will learn the facts,
not carry on the rumor.

8. I want Biden
In addition to the fopo cred, what we need isn't a nuanced person or a "nice" person, we need someone who will go on the attack. Someone who will say "I call bullshit" on the campaign trail and put it in plain terms. Because that's what the Republicans are going to run on: bullshit. I think Obama should pick Biden and not put him on a short leash. I'd love to see him in a debate with Romney basically telling everyone: "folks, this guy is full of shit."

It depends how Obama makes the choice. I have a feeling he would be most comfortable and more on the same page as Kaine. Kaine would seem more easy to control and keep on message. I have nothing against Kaine, I just want to see these fuckers pounded into the ground the way Biden would do it.
