Bill Clinton praises McCain on energy.
My first reaction.. "ah geez not this again"

My second reaction, the most hated name on the other side is Clinton. Nothing will keep them (the rabid right) home more than thinking Clinton is approving McCain's programs. (And for anyone who does not think that Clinton is not the rallying call that will bring out the rabid right, you are living in a bubble)

My third reaction.."ayy yii yii", this will make for an interesting day at DU

2. ROFL...now that is funny!
A little off topic, but I heard he may announce his veep(McCain) choice on his birthday. Is that to keep everyones mind off the fact that he will be 72??

3. In several other threads it has already become a bloodbath
Hard to comprehend why the diehard Obama supporters are screaming over Clinton's words when Obama and his surrogates have voiced same or similar praises for Republican opponents. The hypocrisy flying around today is astounding.

6. Clinton knows how to do it
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 09:57 AM by JoFerret
politics I mean.

And truth is - McCain has carved out an interesting position on energy. One that is harder to attack than the usual GOP crap. It takes some political maneuvering to jab in the sharp stick and detonate the explosion.

9. We haven't voiced similar praises for McCain.......and that's a BIG difference
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 10:16 AM by scheming daemons
The fact that you don't get it is what is really astounding.

12. Clintons think McCain would be a better president than O. They Said That.
they deliberately undermine THE LEADER OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY and our NEXT PRESIDENT.
a bit of a difference here I think.

23. The difference is that Obama praises him for what he did in Vietnam
That is a world of difference from praising him on a current issue. The fact is that he is better than many Republicans on this issue, but nowhere near as good as the top Democrats. But it is true that he and Kerry worked very hard in 2001 to raise CAFE standards and were blocked by Michigan Democrats and their allies as much as by Republicans.

18. Weak ass argument
Of course Obama is praising his opponent, that's how you take the high road in an election. A philosophy the Clintons have proven they don't subscribe to. Unless its to kiss Obama's ass Hill and Bill should keep their fucking mouths shut.

28. Why should Senator Clinton be kissing Senator Obama's ass???
That's a very odd and disrespectful thing to say about both of them.

29. Because he's our nominee
Bill and Hillary shouldn't try to steal any of his spotlight until it's over, for any reason, no matter how small. It's called respect.

30. That doesn't mean ANYONE should kiss his ass -- including us
I honestly don't think Senator Obama would be happy with your statement, either. He understands that the role of the nominee -- and a President -- is not about having his ass kissed, but about leading. I wish some of his supporters would let him lead, and quit second-guessing him and think he's either being bullied, caving, or being fooled.

Senator Clinton IS working for Senator Obama - there wonderful joint statement last week, her campaigning, and her pledging her SD to him shows all of that, and how BOTH OF THEM respect one another.

31. You just won't let it go
I have tried and tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. You rabid hatred of anything Clinton and your inability to stop yourself from jumping at any chance to slam them, real or imagined, has just tipped the scale for me.

Off you go to ignore land with the rest of those who cannot move past the primaries.

I wish you well, I just cannot stomach your posts any longer.

32. You won't be able to read this but
I wouldn't care if it was fucking Superman/Supergirl that got the 2nd place spot. You don't try to upstage your nominee. It has nothing to do with the Clintons.

Their are many ways Obama can use Clinton as an offensive weapon in many unsuspected ways.

8. I am a Obama supporter..bar none
I have been since July of last year. But I don't know, I just found this funny. It will have them going around the bend in the rabid right. That support for McCain is awfully spongy. And to have Bill Clinton praising his energy policy. Well it is Katie Bar the Door for the uber rightists. Just my take on it

11. Barack should not have that @sshole at his convention. No telling what he will say. He is
pissed because his wife did not win. He is jealous because Barack is taking his place with the black community. I was so crazy about that man a year ago. I mean absolutely crazy about Bill Clinton. Now I can't stand the sight of him. I would not mind if I never saw his face again.

19. Ditto also.
He was supposed to be throwing his complete machine out there to fully support the nominee; no reservations, no holding back, no statements that we have to f'g sit here and parse over to debate whether or not they are supportive.

I haven't seen anything like that yet. He's had since June, and it is late August now. He never intended to support any other nominee than the one who would put HIM back in the White House. We all know full support when we see it, and this ain't it, neither from him or Hillary. It isn't a good or bad thing with regards to either Clinton; it is a "just what it is, what it always has been with him, and now you get to see it for yourself" sort of thing.

Sometimes we expect people to be what we want them to be, and sometimes those people pretend to be that if it will advance their goals. Nothing new there, just hard for some to swallow that their expectations were not based in reality.
