14 MINUTES, OUTSIDE MY CELL. HE CAME WALKING UP. HE STOOD

16 COURTYARD HE DREW A CROSS AND HE STOOD THERE AND A MINUTE

17 LATER, HE RUBBED IT OUT AND WALKED AWAY. FOR A MINUTE

what was being said, in my admittedly jaded view:

And it's about the WORLD (might as well throw out a big net, I call myself baptist, but not exactly sure I fit... better salvage this...)

I'm going to do you a favor and talk about my suffering for my country- my 'ticket' the thing that happened to me I'm most 'appreciative' of, because while it was no picnic, it shuts people up like nobodys business.

Torture, Vietnam, Hanoi Hilton, excruciating pain, endless suffering, in the middle of it all someone comes in and gives me some relief- I can't say that without you thinking that maybe they weren't ALL as bad as I want you to think, so let me join this together with a 'Christmas' story- I was 'on break' on a lonely Christmas, and this guard- the very same guard that showed kindness to me (the only reason this monster showed any 'kindness' was that he was not really Vietnamese, he was a "Christian"-) and there, in the dirt, he took his handle- (to what? doesn't matter) and scratched the universal symbol of Christ into the dust.
God ordained my suffering, and he wants me to tell you this story so you know I'm god's choice, and I've got a lot of experience being a 'Christian'.

To be fair, I can see him searching his mind for what to say, and bringing up what to him seemed like a significant 'sign'at a time in his life when he was in 'deep despair'. A time when even people who don' believe in any kind of 'god' sometimes experience things they later question.

He said nothing at all about how his 'faith' impacts him on a daily basis. He doesn't even seem to have learned about mercy or to care much about being sure that what was done to him is never repeated against others. :shrug:

People who were really listening to him, and who wanted to hear honest answers, (even if those answers aren't what they wanted to hear) weren't fooled by McCain I don't think. Those who were sold on McCain as a result of what he said last night, were never going to choose Obama anyway. IMO
