1. Actually, I would like to meld
one and three. I think Salter came up with the idea, gave it to McWikipedia who then said "sounds great to me."

10. Well, there is one way it might not
have been plagiarized, and I do want to give McCain the benefit of the doubt. The old guy in The Gulag finally gets released from Gulag, moves from the Soviet Union to North Vietnam, gets a job as a prison guard where he runs into John McCain. I mean, you know. It is possible.

"I am John McCain and I approve this plagiarized anecdote that I didn't even think up myself."

3. I believe John McCain is a fraud.
In fact he was treated better than other POWs because his father was a US Navy Admiral.

4. I refuse to believe John McCain actually read Gulag Archipelago.
The only thing less likely is Bush reading it.

My guess is that someone like Salter told him the tale and then miraculously McCain suddenly "remembered" his similar experience.

5. I am beginning to believe McSame is eve more ignorant AND dishonest than *
Just as * actually believes he was in Viet Nam "I've been in war, and I've raised daughters", McSame has begun to believe the lies his campaign has told. He's also senile, which doesn't help, but I think he's just as big a liar as Bush.

6. CONFUSED?!?!! Why are we giving this bastard the benefit of the doubt?
Either he's senile or he's got a criminal mind. Which one of those makes him presidential?

8. I don't think calling him senile is giving him any benefit of any doubt.

7. I think he's senile, and as such is blurring the distinction between stories and his memories.
It'll be the first White House that can't have movies like Fail-Safe, for fear that he'll wind up panicking and ordering nuclear strikes.

14. Funny you should ask! Perhaps we shouldn't wait around for them.....
perhaps this story can get legs, in spite of the media.
