McCain up by 20% among White Men, but tied among White Women
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 05:49 PM by darius15
http://www.gallup.com/poll/109456/Gender-Gap-Among-White-Voters-Bigger-Now-Than-2004.aspx

White Men- McCain 55, Obama 35
White Women- McCain 44, Obama 44

2004
White Men- Bush 56, Kerry 40
White Women- Bush 51, Kerry 42

Obama's doing worse among white men then Kerry, but is tying among white women while Kerry lost by 9.

4. It wasn't meant to be about Hillary
The MSM was talking about how Obama wouldn't get votes from female voters after he beat Hillary. More MSM bullshit.

9. You're entitled.
I don't agree that she'd be doing better among white women either.

7. My bad, but it wasn't meant to be Obama v Hillary
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 05:48 PM by darius15
I was trying to say that the MSM is full of shit because they were talking about how Obama wouldn't get female votes after Hillary lost. I'll take it out of the message.

12. That's ridiculous
I never heard that from the msm...what about the millions of women who voted for Obama in the primaries? She does have a subset of women voters who will not automatically vote for Obama. You may have to be female and of a certain age to understand. It comes from living through the time when for example "bank teller" was a career for a woman but just a short-term entry level position for any man that was hired. Notice the 12% undecided.....

14. You never heard that?
Will Obama be able to get working class voters? older voters? female voters? Hispanics?
I remember that from Bill Schneider on CNN.

you're right about the subset of women who won't automatically vote Obama, but do you think they will vote for him in November, or would they rather vote third party or McCain?

13. Talking with a Republican Friend...
Yeah, I have a couple...

Anyway, he said that his support of McCain is entirely dependent upon his choice of running mate. He firmly believes that McCain won't be able to finish out his term, and whoever he chooses as VP is going to be the next President (if McCain wins).

Just one guy's opinion, of course, but it's interesting to see how little support McCain has from a lifelong Republican.

16. Yep, and like our party you can't satisfy everyone with one VP. Soft Support is an understatement

17. So who does he want the pick to be?
I shudder to ask.

I assume Jeb Bush would be his favorite, in an "ideal" world. If he is still a Repuke after all this, that means he is a Bush family worshipper.

18. He didn't say
He's not a heavily religious guy, so I suspect that Huckabee wouldn't appeal to him. He actually said that if McCain chooses Lieberman, then we'd have a Democrat in the White House (had I been drinking milk, it would have been coming out my nose at that point). My guess is that he'd like somebody younger and more establishment - Romney probably.

11. White guys are stoopid to back this clown. I say that as a white guy.
I don't get it. But, then again, I know of them. They don't take me on about this subject. For good reason.

I'm intimidating. Think Clint Eastwood. No? OK, how about . . .

15. Any woman who votes for mccain, deserves the Supreme Court they get
The poll also says the educated white men are going for mccain.

Personally, I think the poll tells you NOTHING

It doesn't tell you how the states break down, and that is what really counts, WHO WINS THE STATES with the most electoral votes

I do not believe the young, educated, or those who are not better off the last 8 years will vote for a third term of bush

but if mccain does win, it will be my last election, and the country will get what it deserves, endless wars, no healthcare, no regulation, no retirement
