Pastors' ad praises Obama for standing by his family (unlike some candidates?)

A new ad from the Matthew 25 Network, a liberal pastors' group that supports Barack Obama, commends him for being a good family man.

The impliciation is that John McCain -- who has admitted to cheating on his first wife with the blond mistress who became his second and current wife -- comes up short in this regard.

Among those featured in the ad is Kirbyjon Caldwell, the Houston pastor who is a family friend of George W. Bush. (He officiated at Jenna's wedding this spring.) Despite remaining close to the Bushes, Caldwell has endorsed Obama.

McCain is never mentioned in the ad, but at one point, Caldwell says, "Throughout his entire career, Sen. Obama has stood by familes."

Caldwell's wife, Suzette, seated next to him, responds: "Including his own."

Caldwell nods, smiles, and says, "Hmmmm."

Steven Waldman, the editor-in-chief of Beliefnet.com, says the ad is to run during televised coverage of the two candidates' appearance tonight at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif.

Sorry to shout. But then again, we ALL have to get louder about this one. That has to be melded together in the American psyche, how you can't think about john mcsame without THAT nasty little detail popping up in the back of your mind. Because it's so prevalant and so constant that it just can't be helped. It's automatic. The connection has been made and it's permanent because it was able to sink deep deep down. Subliminal. Guilt by association with that nasty little fact. And it's EVERYWHERE. EVERYONE knows about it and is talking about it and it's made a HUGE and enduring impression. You can't get away from it. Like a political earworm.
