I just had a concern about being sure I will be able to vote
I have been diagnosed with breast cancer, have no idea what the hell is going to be happening to me by the time the election is going to roll around. Does anyone know if I can get help from the Obama campaign or something to make sure my vote gets counted if I am in the hospital or something at the time? Maybe this is a stupid question but with my luck lately I will be in some kind of surgery or something and not be able to vote!

1. Why don't you just do an absentee ballot?
I know those will start opening up pretty soon after the Conventions.

2. First of all, get well soon!
You can go to your state secretary of state's website to find out about absentee voting. Or if there is an Obama campaign office in your area, contact them.

Good luck! And healing wishes are being sent your way.

3. Can you vote early or by mail? And yes, I would call the campaign office
and I'm certain someone can help you.

I've driven many eleserly people to the polls at their request; I don't doubt that you would be eligible as well.

Sending a prayer for your health. Take care--and do call the local campaign ASAP while you sare doing reasonably well.

4. Hugs to you Robyn66
 Please call your county registrar and secure an absentee ballot. That is one thing you won't have to worry about if you get it out of the way now.

Everything will be okay with your treatments .

7. Thanks
I will check into the absentee ballot. For some reason I thought you had to do those a long time ago. I am only 42 and hopefully I won't be too much of a mess but every good vibe helps!!

Thanks guys!
Robyn

5. first get well soon
Second, many states permit no excuses absentee voting within 30 days of the election. Failing that you can ask for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you.

6. I'm so sorry, Robyn66!
I hope this is an early detection - so many advances have been made in the treatment and cure of breast cancer. :grouphug: Let us know how you are doing.

How about getting an absentee ballot?

8. The indicators point to it being early
We haven't gotten all of the pathology back yet but the doctor thinks its a T1 tumor which I hear is good. They found it when I went for my baseline mammogram. I will be transferring from my local hospital to Dana Farber in Boston for treatment. I have 100% faith in them.

In between times of total fear and crying my heart out I joke with my husband and tell him that I will have them "upgrade me" to "Porno boobs" with the reconstruction. I know a good attitude is the key to survival but sometimes the fear is brutal especially in the middle of the night. But I have a great support system and you Du'ers here too!!!!

9. I've had cancer twice -- but both times
they were of the kind when you 'got it' it was gone for good (melanoma, thyroid) so I didn't have any long time to wonder, and didn't have to go through any treatments.

My mom had breast cancer, and all I can say is that she learned to live with it. We adapt and adjust - but I can only imagine the uncertainty must be paralyzing.

Go for the porno boobs!

10. Fill out this form
Print, complete, and send to your town clerk. You won't get a ballot until after the state primary in September, but you'll be on the list.
