Poll question: Do You Think Wes Clark Will Be Obama's Vice President?
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 09:04 AM by Dinger
Let's review:

1. Wednesday night at the Democratic Convention, the theme is "Securing America's Future," the name of
Wesley Clark's website.

2. Wednesday night will honor veterans. Wes Clark is a veteran.

3. Tammy Duckworth is speaking right before the vice presidential candidate speaks. Will she introduce him/her?
Wes Clark was a big time supporter of Tammy Duckworth.

4. With most of the speakers scheduled, why would someone be scheduled to speak, who's going to speak AGAIN
as the vice presidential nominee? Doesn't make sense. Wes Clark is not on the schedule as of yet.

Too many coincidences here IMO, for it to NOT be Wesley Clark. What do you think?

On military and foreign affairs Clark has had an outstanding career. Keeping my fingers crossed.

4. Hillary
If it takes Hillary to win the election, then nominate her, although I would prefer almost anyone else.

5. balance all your reasons against these two reasons:
1. Clark will be in Europe during the convention.

2. Clark's son posted a very specific post saying his father has never been contacted about being VP

6. Of Course, But
That "dinner in Milan" doesn't sound too serious to me, and as much as I like Wes Jr., I don't think his dad keeps him "in the loop" 100%. He just tells him what he needs to know. Just speculation on my part. I'm still hopin'. I realize that all these "signs" pointing to Clark as VP might not mean much, but then again, maybe they do.

30. Dinner in Milan during the Democratic Party's convention??
Wes would be called a traitor to the party.

Wes Clark it is.

off the trail.

Politicians can be a crafty lot when they want to be.

1) If he's supposed to be out of the US everyone will be surprised when he is chosen.

2) Clark's son could have posted those specifics to take the focus off of his father.

WHY would Clark miss out on attending the Convention for a trip to Italy, even if he's not in the running for V.P.?

36. It's entirely possible Clark accepts the nomination from a video link in Italy.
Then again, I'm sure they could also cancel the dinner at the last second.

11. No, but he should be, to help carry the military vote, and Arkansas and nearby states
Or even better, would be to do something similar to what Bush did in 2000 with Powell: choose a V.P. (e.g., the Kansas or Virginia governor) and then announce that General Clark will be your Secretary of State. This way, you get not one but two people out campaigning for you, and a fine, intelligent Secretary of State to boot!

14. Hopping mad
West Jr. wrot on Daily Kos last night that his dad has not been vetted. So no, Wes will not be a VP pick.

To make matters worse, it has been stated that Wes will not be attending the Dem Convention because he is not needed, according to the O camp.

I had a lot of respect for O, but more for Clark.

I am so pissed that Clark is being discarded that I may not vote.

Seems like he's either being set up for the nom, or set up for a really awful insult...

Wish I knew which, but time will tell.

19. LOL, if you let some blogger who is speculating without proof
determine whether you will vote or not, that is a pretty sad statement.

Wes Jr. would not be in the "need to know" column as to whether his dad has been vetted or not. Campaigns keep this very close to the vest for a reason, they don't want anyone to know who has been vetted or not, who is on the short list or not. Only those with a "need to know" knows, Wes Jr is not one of them.

Clark may or may not be the VP choice, only those who know, know.

31. General Wesley Clark HIMSELF would want you to vote!!!
I do hope you vote, as Florida is an important battleground state.

I too am disappointed that General Clark isn't being considered, as I feel that among all the possible candidates he would be one of the best to lead the country 9 years or so from now (after an Obama presidency), and that furthermore he increases Obama's chances of winning more so than most other potential V.P. candidates (Kaine of battleground-state Virginia possibly being an exception). But I know that despite the disappointment General Clark would want us to vote to avoid Bush's Third Term (=McCain).

22. CLARK!!!
I was for HC and I would LOVE Clark on the ticket. It's my dream ticket at this point. I think Clark answers every question McCain throws re Obama being "unknown" because Clark's been around for 30 years. He's also STRONG, BRILLIANT, WELL SPOKEN, and most importantly of all, has the tactical understanding of how to work with other nations to avoid war and strive for peace. With Obama's message of hope and unity and Clark's strength in strategy, it would be unstoppable. Not to mention that Clark is a humanitarian of the sort most can respect. He is for peace but does not portray a weakness of any kind.

23. Neither major party in an age of instant information
is foolish enough to nominate someone for VP who has never won and held elected office. Those are the skill sets essential to winning a national election. No other experience can approximate that accomplishment.

26. I know that picking Hillary Clinton is seen as going against
his whole theme of Change, but I can't imagine anything ticking off the right wing more than a Obama/Clinton ticket. I wonder if she is really going to run with him? I think it would be very funny if they have hoodwinked the media this way. I sort of hope he does pick her because I don't know of one other person that would have the effect that that duo would have.

28. true
Clark is my first choice and I think they would run this country brilliantly and we would restore america's standing in the international community, which would make us safer for REAL. second, I'd take HC for the reasons you listed -- I think it would get Obama elected and she'd be great in a lot of ways.

Obama hasn't made a bad decision yet (odd for someone so "new") -- and gee, McCain has years of bad experiences and scandals like Keating 5....

GOBAMA!!!

32. Obama/Clinton would be a surefire win
The conservatives who hate Hillary hate Obama just as much (if not more). She won't drive any more Republicans to the polls than Obama will anyway.

On the other hand, the media will be wild about the Dream ticket, and Clinton brings the holdout women and Blue Collars with her.

An African American AND a woman? WOW! Sounds good to me! Sounds like the future TODAY.

What would be the point of a head fake? That term has gotten thrown around a lot here, but the thing is they're not playing basketball. I don't see any value to the campaign in trying to fool people.
