Poll question: A Poll For African-American DUers
Edited on Sat Aug-16-08 01:18 AM by swampg8r
im an old southern white guy
ive been reading posts tonight about AA radio and its perceptions of the clintons and obama
comments that given the date on MY calendar are silly as hell on both sides of each issue
ive supported senator obama faithfully since last october or so and voted for him in floridas worthless primary
the issue of race was not a factor in my choice
but i have seen some posts tonight that made reference to obamas "blackness" or lack there of

as a old suthern white guy
to me
hes black
and i understand the underlying social prejudices that create that impression
plus
he looks black to me
so i have a poll for our AA members only

edited to add Issac Hayes god bless you and keep you and thanks for the good times

Barack Obama

2. What really matters is that HE 'identifies' as black...
regardless of his white, Irish heritage.

5. I think it's more about the world he's seen looking back at him all his life.
We all see very DIFFERENT worlds ... as others see us and get that look in their face, in their eyes, and in their attitude and words. In a sense, we all live on different planets where perceptions become realities.

3. You wouldn't let us pick two choices...
Good poll, though. That "too black, not black enough" shit is really irksome. We need to chill on that for real!

6. Our stupid society would never allow him to be anything other than "black"
We are a disgusting race, the human race that is, when it comes to otherness. We are so arrogant and biased toward "different than me" that at times I can barely stand to be on this planet.

In many peoples minds differences usually mean "scary," not just unknown.

Since I'm not black I don't really belong posting here but I couldn't help it. I think of senator Obama as a man more than a color. He is a beautiful, human being who knows what it means to suffer for nothing more than the way he looks.

One day I hope we grow enough to realize that we are all the same race... human.

(This is not directed at you swampg8r).
