I think the general's sudden and "supposed" trip to Milan was just to throw us off track....
Check it out.

August 12th: Highlights from Rachel Maddow's interview with the General.

Rachel Maddow: Hm. Um, are you going to be in Denver, General Clark?

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: I'm not sure yet. I have business commitments overseas, and the convention honestly, I mean, it just hasn't taken form enough for me to know.

Rachel Maddow: Of course, you know what I'm wondering is if you have any plans to be behind a podium, say, Wednesday night in prime time. (laughs)

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: (pause) I...Right now, on Wednesday night I'm scheduled to be at a dinner in Milan, Italy.

Rachel Maddow: General, General Wesley Clark, I want to thank you for taking time to join us today, and, and part of me hopes that you really enjoy that dinner in Milan and part of me hopes that you're, you're back here instead. (laughs)

Ok now. Let's review what we just heard.

Q: "are you going to be in Denver, General Clark?"

A: "it hasn't taken form enough for me to know yet"

................

We all know General Clark is always clear and precise on his responses.. but that one doesn't make a lick o' sense.

"It hasn't taken form enough for me to know yet" ....

What hadn't taken form as of August 12th yet?

---

He went on to do interviews every day since that comment.. August 12, 13, 14, and today. Milan, Italy never came up.. even though the Veep question did.

~~~~ Did whatever "hadn't taken form enough" eventually take form?
.
.
Okay, you.. Alan Colmes, go ahead.. next question please
(August 14th.. two days after the Maddow interview, Colmes interviews the general on the radio. Note that he doesn't mention Italy)
GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: Good to be with you, Alan.
Alan Colmes: Thanks for being with us. Before we get to the Georgia conflict, you know there are a lot of people who would like to see Barack Obama choose you as his running mate. Any chance of that happening?
GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: You know, I just, I don't have a thing to say about it, honestly.
Alan Colmes: (laughs) Have you been vetted?
GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: I just, I have no idea. I have no knowledge of any of it.
Alan Colmes: Really? You-
GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: But-
Alan Colmes: It would be a pretty good job, right?
GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: Well, I think it'd be wonderful to be Vice President of the United States in, in principle. I mean, you know, you have to- i-i-it's like any time you're in a high government position, you just- a lot of stuff gets thrown your way. I mean who would've expected that you'd have a crisis with Georgia (drop out) the Olympics. You know?
General Clark was also on CNN today and didn't mention going to Italy..
And come on. That response to Colmes. He doesn't know if he's been vetted?
Someone will be chowing down on Italian cuisine Wednesday, August 27th..
....but I have a hunch it won't be General Clark.
1. Yeah, his excuses seem kind of lame, lol.
One of the biggest surrogates for our side and he's not going to be at the Convention? And he started to say, "...honestly,..." and then kind of back-tracked with "...I mean..."
It's gotta be him!
3. Yeah, it'd be cool if it was General Clark.
Even though he has white hair, he doesn't look old-- he's a little similar to Anderson Cooper in that they totally rock the white hair youthful look-- so General Clark doesn't undercut Obama's youthful and energetic image. Also, since he's definitely not "in" on the political game other than his association with his former boss' circle, he also fits with Obama's non-Washington insider image. Thirdly, Obama and Clark both share an integral honesty that comes through clearly in their own unique ways. Also, they share the same sort of common sense that I think would make them work well together.
