Obama's southern strategy omits Arkansas - so far
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/16/us/politics/16arkansas.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin

Actually, I would omit most southern states & spend the money in Ohio, Ohio, Ohio, & Virgina, Virgina, & Virgina...

If Obama keeps the Kerry states & adds Ohio, then it's game-set-match, Obama is the 44th. POTUS....

1. Southern states are really hurting.. most are in recession or close to it
there is a good chance that Obama will win FL, GA, and NC.. People are not liking the Repig strategy and are tired of getting screwed.. Now, how much race factors in we'll see..

2. Obama doesn't need AR but....
if he has Bill, Hillary and VP Clark working the state, then Arkansas is clearly in play.

3. Another "Why isn't Obama ..." article
Arkansas doesn't have seats up for grabs and it has few electoral votes. He did poorly there in the primary. And as the last poster said, the Clintons hold the sway there. If Obama doesn't want to invest a lot there, he shouldn't and if the NYT gets in a snit over it, well, count the states McCain isn't playing in.

4. It's really quite simple...

If he chooses the VP that quite a few DU'ers would love for him to pick... Maybe even a majority here?

We don't have to worry about the old creepy dude winning Arkansas... Obama will win it.

5. NC has a good chance of going blue
very good... that's coming from a NCer who lives in a small rural town, and also travels near daily to Greensboro.
