I Think Al Gore Will Introduce Barack Obama to the Convention Thursday Night.
There's no one of his stature that would equal that.

I think that may just be why his speaking schedule hasn't been announced.

I think that Al would be the perfect person to introduce the nominee of our party.

10. "we should take some of the excess enthusiasm
for senator obama and deposit it in some kind of hidden away or protected space, maybe a 'lock-box,' so that the nominee in 2016 can start off with a good footing."

...from his leaked prepared comments for that night

6. I'm thinking that too.
He's a bridge between the old party of Clinton and the new
party currently led by Obama.

It would be so fitting.

13. Gore would be a fantastic choice for the intro
As far as shoring up the base, among whom a handful of Dems seem to be still breathing in the "He's-too-new" meme about Obama.

14. Why Gore rather than
the LAST Democratic presidential candidate, John Kerry? Kerry has already been much more vocal and active in his support for Senator Obama. We have hared almost nothing from President Gore.

17. Another possibility would be Kerry
Kerry after all introduced him to the nation by giving him the key note speech and endorsed him when it mattered. Kerry was the high level surrogate that Obama needed to counter Bill Clinton. Kerry, with far less power than Clinton, was by far the better surrogate. It was Kerry who was able to call Clinton on lies, while remaining his usual calm self.

In addition, Kerry's speech endorsing Obama was wonderful and drove some of the coverage. (Obama could not call himself "transformational", Kerry could. )

Kerry clearly deserves a speech - more than many already announced to have one and there is none scheduled. I seriously doubt the VP rumors, because he has rereatedly said he is running for the Senate - and MA law will not let him run for both.
