Just got back from 8 days in Orange County CA
and while there I saw two things I have never seen here in rural Oregon: A McCain bumper sticker and a roped off city block with many cop cars and two body bags on the sidewalk. (My little town only has one cop car and one sheriff car, and many Obama stickers.)

Surprisingly, I actually saw several Obama stickers to the one single McCain sticker I saw in supposedly red Orange County CA. I didn't see a single yard sign for either candidate, however. The very Republican relatives I was visiting were all Obama supporters, except for two undecideds (who aren't sure if they "trust Obama").

7. Got'cha, certainly a liiittle bit more liberal right there. In-land it gets a bit stickier...
Genuinely strange-thinkers, but as a poster mentioned OC is changing overall and boy do they *need* a change, there's no substitute for proper thinking :hi:

3. Orange County voted for Bush by 20 points in 04, but that will change because
1) Democrats have gained in party ID across the nation
2) Many parts of Orange County are rich, affluent areas that generally vote Republican but this year, rich affluent voters love Obama, so Orange County may be a toss-up

8. It's only August, which is
early for yard signs. Lots of municipalities have ordinances saying how long before election day they can go up.

9. "not sure if they can TRUST Obama???" Instead they thinking of TRUSTING McGAFF?
what are the odds for both of them to do a good job?

OBAMA wins by 4657586978 miles.

11. Bill Clinton broke the barrier and won Orange County.
In 1992, I went to the Orange County Fairgrounds to see Bill Clinton speak.

As we pulled up, my jaw dropped. There were thousands and thousands of people lining up to go into the outdoor arena.

There was no more room for sitting and outside the venue there were still thousands who listened and cheered as Bill spoke. The roar was tremendous.

Orange County had begun to crack open.

And then Bob Dornan went down into defeat to Loretta Sanchez and the rest is history.

The old addage was that if a presidential candidate could carry 70% of Orange County, they would win the state. And that was a very easy thing to do in the old days. But not anymore.

Gore carried California by a 1 million vote margin over George Bush in 2000.

I expect Barack Obama to sweep California by between 1.5 million and 2 million votes in November.

13. I live 'right next door'
to Huntington Beach, and I've seen 3 Obama stickers, one lawn sign on my block ( but they moved away???) and too many Bush Cheney stickers, STILL---swear to gawd!

I haven't put an Obama sticker on yet- but I do have a 'grannies against george' on my bumper!
