Michelle will be the star attraction on the opening night of the convention!
Clintons, Michelle Obama Get 'Headline' Spots at Convention

By Robert Barnes
Sen. Barack Obama's campaign announced yesterday that his wife, Michelle, will be the star attraction on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, Aug. 25 in Denver.

Following Michelle Obama, the "headline speakers" for the rest of the convention will be Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton on Tuesday, Obama's vice presidential choice on Wednesday, and Obama himself on Thursday, when the convention moves to Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium and Obama officially accepts the party's nomination before a crowd expected to reach 75,000.

Two of the dates will be rich with symbolism: Clinton, who came closer than any woman in history to winning a major party nomination for president, will speak on the 88th anniversary of women receiving the right to vote, and Obama will give his acceptance speech on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

9. And? This isn't the past. This is 2008. Not 2004 or 1988

5. I would assume the Obama campaign will have Hillary as the keynote.
It makes a lot of sense.

7. I looked it up...She is the keynote speaker and therefore not the VP
who gets to speak on a day of his/her own.

13. That's horrible if true.
The keynote speech should be by an up and coming person, or someone with an inspirational story to tell. Clinton is neither. :(

What a failure if true.

17. Hillary Clinton agrees to Denver keynote - sign she's not running mate

Some of those on the conference call concluded Clinton was not under serious consideration for vice president, and would instead be filling a more limited - albeit historically charged - role at the Denver convention.

"She said Hillary Clinton has accepted the role of speaking on the passage of the 19th Amendment," said Gus Bickford, a DNC member and superdelegate from Massachusetts who was on the call. "It really does send the signal that Hillary will not be the vice president."

11. I'm really excited to hear her speech! I'm sad that we haven't heard more from her lately.
She really knows about the hardships Americans face, and it would be a benefit for the campaign to see her everyday after the convention.

Michelle is a STRENGTH... let's use her.

12. I think she just could be the star of the show.
It'll be fun to see the Obamas vs the Clintons.
